Chapter Fifty: Christmas Miracle

Double Act - Chapter 50

~~ Lara's P.O.V ~~

"Merry Christmas!" Liv and I shout as Louis opens his front door. "And happy birthday!" I added, equally loudly. He stood frozen for a moment, wincing as we yelled at the top of our lungs, before letting a smile light up his face.

"I hope you bought me a hearing aid for my birthday," he grinned, stepping back in to his house to let us past.

Liv rolled her eyes and lead the way. She held a bag in one hand, but she threw the other around Louis in a half hug. He hugged her back, probably making this the best day ever.

Harry appeared behind Louis, a grin on his face that rivalled Louis'. "Lou, you're dating the other one," he whispered in Louis' ear, loud enough for both Liv and I to hear him. Liv laughed and withdrew from the embrace.

Louis scoffed, and took a swat at him. As Harry dashed away in the kitchen, he turned back to me. "Sorry, he loves this time of year," he rolled his eyes and let me inside. "He's very hyper today,"

I nodded slowly. "I see," I grinned, letting him shut the door behind me.

"So where are we putting these presents then?" Liv asked, wiggling the bag she held in one hand. "My arm is going dead here, Tomlinson!"

Louis laughed. "In there, under the tree. Any normal person could figure that out, surely?"

Liv glared sternly at him, one hand on her hip. "I won the X Factor, I don't need brains anymore," she declared pointedly before raising her eyebrows in a similar manor.

She walked in to the lounge, where Louis gestured to, and I was about to follow her when my hand was caught. I was pulled back around, and I stumbled in to Louis' chest with a very unattractive sound effect. He either didn't seem to notice, or simply didn't mention it. It took me a moment to come around after the surprise of practically being assaulted.

I could feel his warm breath on my face and it made me tense up. I lifted my eyes slowly from his chin, where my natural eye line was, to his eyes.

"Merry Christmas," he said quietly, bringing something out from behind his back. He held in in both hands out in front of himself, and I saw that is was a rectangular black box. I looked from him to the box a few times in shock before taking it from him.

"Open it,"

"I know how this works, idiot," I replied smartly, probably ruining the moment, but too nervous to notice.

I stretched out my fingers before taking the lid and opening it. The inside of the lid was lined with red felt, whilst the base was a more silky material. I glanced one more time at Louis before examining underneath the material. I lifted it carefully, and caught a glimmer of silver. I took the end I had discovered and proceeded to shed the box.

I held the necklace in both hands. Now. I didn't wear jewellery all that much, but holy mother of god it was beautiful. It was an elegant silver chain with a silver heart looped through it. I turned the chain so that I held the heart in my hands, and I noticed it had an engraving on it. I studied it and realized that it read 'Louis and Lara' on it. I froze for a moment, and my mouth fell open. I heard Louis chuckle, and I looked up at him.

"It's beautiful," I breathed, not being able to believe that someone had done this for me.

He shrugged. "Yeah, well, you are too, so it adds up, doesn't it?" he smiled, like it was nothing. He reached for it, and I let him take it. He took the heart and proceeded to open it and hand it back to me.
