Double Act - Chapter 45

"You idiot! Now he hates me!"

"I didn't mean to! Anyway, he's only a friend, right?" the boy asked, the anger he felt inside very clear in his voice as he tried his best to avoid the girl's gaze.

The girl glowered in reply. "Yeah, he is, dumb ass, stop getting so annoyed over this,"

The boy scoffed. "I'm sorry for being protective over my girlfriend," he said, his words dripping with nasty sarcasm. "If he's that important to you, then maybe you should be his girlfriend,"

"I can't believe you just said that,"

"Well, I did," the boy said smartly.

The girl fell quiet, before speaking in a small voice. "You know, I never thought I would say this, but you're right. Maybe I should be his girlfriend, not yours,"

The boy's scowl fell, a hurt look flashing across his features before anger replaced it. "Go on then, I dare you. I fu-"

"Hey!" I cried as the TV screen went black.

Louis chuckled, the remote in his hand as his gaze flickered from he blank TV screen to my face. "Sorry, as much as I love you and think you're amazing and wonderful, I refuse to watch Waterloo Road," he winced at the name, and threw down the remote next to me. He set down on the sofa beside it, placing a hand on my leg and resting his other arm on the back of the sofa.

I folded my arms, doing my best to be mad at him. "You never said you didn't like Waterloo Road. I might have reconsidered being your girlfriend if you'd told me that," I teased, enjoying seeing the frown on his face.

The frown soon turned in to a cocky smirk, and I rolled my eyes. "You love me too much. But seriously, Waterloo Road is one of the worst programmes in existence,"

"What was that, Tomlinson?"

Louis grinned as Livvy's voice rang out in the lounge. He looked up at the door as my sister stood there with her hands on her hips, an eyebrow raised at the mention of her favourite show of all time.

"I'm just saying," Louis said in his defence. "It's a bloody awful programme! Sorry," he laughed.

Liv smirked, her eyes glinting mischievously. "That's perfectly okay. I mean, I found that series 6 was especially awful," she winked at him, and I felt him tense beside me. "Some of the extras were just horrific actors, you know?"

Louis shifted uneasily. "Shut up, Olivia,"

Liv's smile dropped at the sound of her full name. "Don't be a dickhead, Louis,"

Louis seemed to relax a little at the prospect of pissing Livvy off. He was about to fire another insult before a manly (I use the term loosely, mind you) cry echoed from the kitchen. Liv simply giggled, rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote from beside Louis, who shifted his position slightly toward me as my sister sat down beside him.

"What was that?" I asked, peering over at my sister.

Liv laughed again, turning on the TV. "Well, judging from the trajectory of the sun and the moon, probably Harry attempting to make brownies, I left him alone with the oven," she explained calmly.

Realising that no one but me cared about the current happenings in our kitchen, I leapt from the sofa and sped to find out the damage Harry had done. I'm not going to lie, but I feared the worst.
