Double Act - Chapter 33

I let out a groan of frustration as I heard the automated voice of Dylan's answering machine, and I threw my phone down on to the covers of my bed. Dylan hadn't been answering my texts or calls ever since he had kissed me that night. I just wanted to have my friend back, but he simply didn't want to talk to me. That confused me and, more than anything, made me feel guilty.

"What's wrong, sissy?" Liv asked cheerily, walking in from the bathroom with a smile on her face as she towel dried her thick brown hair.

I fell back on to my bed and covered my face with my hands. "OK. One; I told you NEVER to call me sissy," I said, lifting my head a little to glare at her before letting it hit the bed once more. "Two; you know damn well what's wrong and three," I sat up and scowled at her. "What on earth are you so happy about?" I demanded, annoyed that during my annoyance she seemed as happy as ever.

She chuckled and sat down cross-legged on her own bed, dropping her towel in to her lap. "One; I like calling you sissy, sissy," she teased. "Two; I was only asking, calm down. And three," she listed, throwing her damp towel on to my face and giggling at my discomfort, "You're hilarious when you're annoyed,"

I rolled my eyes, and as I sat up I launched her towel back at her. To my dismay, she caught it swiftly with one hand and made her way back in to the bathroom to continue to dry her hair. "Dammit, stop being so good at catching!" I exclaimed, seething with irritation. All I heard back in reply was laughter.

After a minute or so of silence, Liv appeared in the doorway once more. "If you want him to talk to you so much, why don't you just go down to his room, idiot?"

I bit my lip, miffed that I hadn't thought of this simple solution myself. "Wait, aren't they leaving today?"

Liv picked up her mobile from the bedside table and tapped away for a moment. "They're leaving at 4," she said, not looking up. I raised my eyebrows at her. She glanced at me, and exaggerated a shrug. "What do I look like, a walking clock?! There's a clock right next to you, dimwit!"

I smiled sheepishly at my irked sister and glanced at the digital clock beside me. 3:48pm.

12 minutes.

As of by reading my mind, Liv grinned. "You'd better run, sissy," she winked cheekily.

As much as I was annoyed by her comment, I did as she said, dashing from the room. Then I stopped and poked my head around the doorframe. "And STOP calling me sissy!" I cried at her before running out of our room.

I sprinted along the corridors and in to the boys part of the house. I hurried along the hallway, dashing around a corner and right in to the hard chest of someone walking the other way. I let out an unattractive grunt before stumbling backwards. I would have hit the floor if the person hadn't caught my hand and pulled me up.

"I'm sorry, I-" I let out a breath when I saw the boy standing in front of me. "Oh, thank God. It's you,"

"Yeah, it's me," I smirked, shaking my head slightly. I let go of Lara's hand and picked up my brother's rather heavy suitcase once more. "What's with all this thanking God?" I asked, deciding to set down both of the cases I was carrying whilst we talked.

Lara ran a hand through her hair. "Do you know where Dylan is?"

"Dylan...?" I joked.

"Don't mess around, Ollie," she snapped. "Where is that damn brother of yours?"
