Double Act - Chapter 24

~~ Lara's P.O.V ~~

"James!" Liv and I squealed. We bounced inside of the room toward our very frail looking brother. His slumped back suddenly straightened, his face lighting up into a full-blown grin as he opened his arms. We hugged him carefully as to not hurt him, because Mollie had warned us how weak he was because of the state he was in.

"Lara, Livvy!" James squealed, imitating us as he pulled away. We giggled and rolled our eyes. "Cannot believe you got through!" he grinned proudly. "Well, I can believe it because you're both so amazing, but still!"

Liv turned to James, a hopeful glint in her eye. "Jay, will you come to see us if we make it to the finals?" she asked, fiddling with the ends of her hair.

James sighed. "Livvy honey," he ran a hand through his dishevelled hair. "I hate to see you upset, but I honestly don't know if I could do that," he told her earnestly. If James culd be described as any one word, hnest would be top of the list. He saw no point in lying, so most of the time he just... didn't.

Liv smiled bravely. "That's okay. I knew that would be a silly question.. I just, you know," she shrugged. "Wanted to check..."

"I'll try, Livvy," he told her. "I promise, I'll do everything I can to be there at that final,"

That was a big promise to make to a hopeful 19 year old, let alone keep to an emotional 19 year old girl.

"So how have you girls been?" James asked, changing the subject. "Any secret boyfriends I should know about?" he asked, giving me a knowing look that told me I didn't need to reply to that for him to know my answer.

I groaned. "Saw the papers lately, have you?"

He nodded, and raised his eyebrows as he crossed his arms scornfully.

I groaned again."Okay, they have blown it way out of proportion," I explained. "You gotta believe me when I tell you that there's nothing going on between me and Dylan," I spread my hands out in an attempt to convince him.

James laughed. "I know, Lara! I'm teasing,"

"You're such a meanie," I pouted, narrowing my eyes at him.

He chuckles again. "Yeah, but you wouldn't dare hit me,"

I groaned in frustration because he's right. I wouldn't dare.

Of course I put Four Life through. They're just so much more ready, prepared for the Live Shows and more than capable of dealing with the pressure. Well, I hope. But the surfacing rumours of Lara and Dylan put me on edge, no matter how much I trusted her. I had tried to push the jealous feelings away, but that was easier said than done as I stared at the newspaper article.

She didn't call me, that day. She went out to dinner with none other than...

"Hey,"

I jumped almost out of my skin at the hand clapped on my shoulder and turn over the page to hide the text, then whipped round to see a very puzzled Nialler standing beside me on the kitchen tiles. He smiles, laughing a little. "Calm down,"

We were staying at a hotel for the night before heading back to London. The lads were staying with family whilst I spent most of my time at the X Factor in preparation for Live Shows, filming behind the scenes and what not. I wanted my acts to be as close to their fans as possible, just as we were back in 2010...
