Double Act - Chapter 23

~~ Lara's P.O.V ~~

"See?" Dylan grinned, wrapping me up in a warm hug. "I told you you'd get through!" he said, his voice a little muffled as he spoke into my hair. I sighed and said nothing, just smiling to myself.

A voice cooed, and we slowly pulled apart, with Dylan's arm still around my shoulders. "You guys are so cute!" a girl with long blonde hair stood beside us with her hands clasped together, her voice holding falseness that put me on edge. I quickly recognised her, and realised that she was one of the girls in Triple Threat, one of the girl groups that had also made it through.

I warily shifted my feet. "What do you mean?" I asked, glancing at Dylan and seeing him just as confused as I.

The girl gasped. "You mean, you aren't together?" she gestured at the two of us. I felt Dylan tense beside me, and quickly shook my head.

"Urm, no," I laughed nervously. "We're just friends," I told her warmly.

She nodded in understanding, and suddenly the hostility in her eyes was gone. "Oh, okay," she smiled softly, her eyes trained on Dylan. "Sorry for the confusion," she shrugged, and turned to go. Before she did, she glanced over her shoulder and smiled. "See you around, Dylan,"

I watched her walk out of the room and join her friends before turning to my own friend. "You need to ask her out, like now," I told him firmly. His head snapped round to look at me as he retrieved his arm.

"And why is that?" he chuckled, waiting for me to follow him out of the room.

"She obviously likes you, Dyl!" I pushed his arm lightly and rolled my eyes. "That was weird, wasn't it?" I added, shaking my head in disbelief.

"What was?"

"That she thought we were dating," I explained as we begun to climb the stairs to our rooms. "Why on earth would she think that?" I glanced over at him, and caught a flash of hurt cross his features. "Not in a mean way, by the way. It's just such a crazy idea," I added.

"Yeah, crazy," Dylan agreed unconvincingly. An awkward silence settled over us, so I decided to change the subject.

"Oh, and you need to keep an eye on that brother of yours," I said, well aware of Ollie's crush on my sister. Dylan smirked, and rolled his bottom lip in to his mouth.

"And why is that?"

I laughed. "Because!" I cried as we reached the split between the girls and the boys rooms. "Liv is, what, 3 years older than Ollie? Plus she's still pursuing her love for Mr Styles, so Ollie will only get his heart broken," I said.

Dylan nodded, grinning as he disappeared down the hallway. I sighed, and opened the door to our room. "Liv?" I called out, throwing my jumper across the arm of the sofa.

"Yeah?" came her muffled reply.

"I'm back!"

She smirked as she entered the room. "Really? I hadn't noticed," she said sarcastically.

I giggled at the stupidity of my choice of words, and settled down on to the comfortable sofa. I looked up at the sound of squeaking wheels, and frowned as Liv dragged her full suitcase in from our bedroom.

"What are you doing?" I asked her.

She let out a huff as she let the case fall to the floor with a thud. "We're leaving today, remember?" she said, pulling her dark hair into a messy bun on top of her head.

"Ah crap!" I cried, leaping from the sofa and dashing into the bedroom. Sure enough, Liv's bed and half of the wardrobe was empty and neat. Mine on the other hand...
