26. Beating Hearts

Dan Heng was sleeping happily in the big imperial bed. The Imperial Palace was silent, the night was quiet, it was possible to hear just some owls.

Even if he was sleeping fine, he ended up waking up, feeling his head burning for no actual reason.

"What the fuck is wrong now?" he said annoyed to then feel his tail tickling. He yawned to then look outside the window, facing the courtyard. He smiled warmly "Ah yes, so quiet..." he yawned again "The trees, the sound of the owls, the night sky, the moon, people running in stealth on the roof..." he sighed to then stretch.

He froze on spot.

"PEOPLE RUNNING IN STEALTH ON THE ROOF? WHY THE FUCK AM I IN CALL OF DUTY GAME NOW?" he exclaimed to then see two shadows running.

"Fuck, that's the zone where the Princes are sleeping" Dan Heng was literally following the shadows, trying so hard not to get noticed by the imperial guards who were patrolling.

He wasn't even sure if those were actually guards as well. Maybe those were shinobis doing the patrol on the roofs? Dan Heng didn't want to do another clown performance, but his heart was pounding as he wanted to be sure it was all okay.

He ended up being stopped by the imperial guards in front of the entrance of the royal quarters.

"Imbibitor, why are you here? And where are your guards?" one of the royal guards asked, with a serious tone as Dan Heng was smiling embarassed

"I... Uhm... I saw some shadows running on the roof, and they were just up there" he said and the royal guards looked at each others to then laugh a little

"Imbibitor, you must be really tired. There's no way, we have archers all over the walls of the palace, nothing can come in or out of the palace" he said and Dan Heng rolled his eyes

"Then I must have been tired indeed" he laughed to then almost curse himself "You fucking moron, of course you're hallucinating now" he almost slapped himself to then smile innocently "Let me enter, I must visit his Highness Blade" he said as he crossed his arms and the royal guards felt in awe, seeing his serious stare. To their eyes, his behaviour was weird.

"At this hour?! No one can enter in the royal quarters, our apologise, Imbibitor" the royal guard did bow and Dan Heng felt the need to at least see with his own eyes everything was alright.

"Fine" Dan Heng sighed as he laid the hand on his own chest, showing a hurt stare with his blue eyes shining "I really didn't want to come to this but he left me no choice..."

The guards looked at each others as they noticed the Imbibitor biting his lips, showing off his frustration... sadness?

The Holy Healer looked at the moon for a moment as if he was trying to be strong at the new.. maybe a secret to be told "Truth is..." he whispered and the two guards leant closer "Prince Blade got hurt to protect me during the travel to the Capital, but he didn't want to tell anyone in the Palace... He saved my life so I just wanted to finally find a private moment to heal him and repay him" his eyes were teary and the Royal guards opened up their eyes

"His Highness would never tell if he got hurt considering his brothers..." one of the guards whispered, and the other did nod

"The Imperial Family and its pride... I can't believe his Highness Blade did even delay the Imbibitor's help" commented the other guard

"Indeed, please please, I can't sleep knowing he has been hurt because of me" he showed such a cute face and the royal guards almost had teary eyes. 

"If it was for us, Holy Healer, we would have fought to bathe in your holy light as soon as possible" the soldier tried to keep himself from cry, and the other was nodding under Dan Heng's warm smile.
