44. No Turning Back

"Is this supposed to happen?!" Dan Heng asked in panic and Yukimura rolled his eyes, trying to keep himself calm

"I am not sure what you're talking about" Yukimura dodged an attack from a vampire "If you mean vampires attacking his highness Haru's city" he listed as he swiftly cut the vampire's head off "Or the Imbibitor clinging on my back"

"You told me to stay close to you!" Dan Heng shouted and Yukimura sighed with his own lips twitching under the black mask of his uniform.

"Well... he's got a point" Toyo commented as he was holding his katana and Ryu was checking the surroundings

"This is so weird, it looks like they have a target, but then as soon as they see Dan Heng or Haru's soldiers, they go blindly like what is this" Ryu grit his teeth and Dan Heng tilted his head

"Brooo, I swear, everyone in this fucking world wants to attempt to kill me, what the fuck" he cried out, feeling like the main character in an horror movie "Except you guys, I love you" he said in panic, holding tight on Yukimura who felt like he was choking him with a supernatural strenght

"Imbibitor" Yukimura closed his eyes for a moment trying not to lose balance as Dan Heng was really trembling on his back, with the legs wrapped around the waist of the shinobi. He was literally showing himself so scared.

It was the first time seeing vampires. The way his eyes were full of the scenes of those monsters literally feeding on dead soldiers was making Dan Heng miss the trolls honestly.

"Damn it" Toyo looked at the shinobis keeping the zone clear and rushing towards any vampire who was attempting to get inside the palace were Yukimura was carrying Dan Heng.

"Fuck, there's a whole pack coming" Ryu and Toyo stayed outside as Yukimura was getting in. Dan Heng flinched as he turned around and saw the vampires literally staring at him. He felt so many shivers running through his body. Why were they targetting him? Literally as soon as there was Blade they were going for his head...

His eyes opened up.

Was the royal family the real target? And since he was getting married, the vampires had the order to also kill him?

No, there was something weird about them... They looked like they had no control over themselves, they were in hunt.

"This won't do... the palace isn't safe... We must move outside the city" Toyo said and Dan Heng in that moment jumped off Yukimura

"Hell no! I won't go away without Blade. Fuck my safety, I want to know if he's fine" he said and Ryu rolled his eyes

"Dan Heng! You're the holy healer, we need to keep you safe. His Highness will kill us otherwise, and you know I am not quite interested in dying again" he said ironically

"Oh really?" Dan Heng copied his tone to then open up his eyes as he noticed some vampires jumping high, moving over the shinobis to reach him. In a glance he saw the vampires landing on Toyo and Yukimura who blocked their claws with their katanas, struggling as they were growling and shouting

Yukimura slashed fast the head of the vampire on top of Toyo, but soon other vampires came and they were just trying to touch Dan Heng who stepped back in fear, having no idea what to do.

He saw the shinobis struggling to keep the vampires away, Toyo tried to free his way. Yukimura tried to help Ryu who was about to get bit to then turn, and open up his blue eyes as he noticed two vampires pushing Dan Heng to the ground

"Fuck you! Leave me alone!" Dan Heng exclaimed in panic, punching a vampire, feeling his own heart beat like crazy. He was terrified. His eyes for a moment met the dark ones of the vampire on top of him, who growled.
