Bai QingQing POV
I ran out of the room as soon as I heard the commotion, my curiosity getting the better of me. "What was that?" I asked, still dabbing the dots on my face to hide my looks and keep myself out of trouble. I even had a piece of food stuffed in my mouth, too distracted to finish chewing.
Parker stood nearby, shaking his head. I turned to him, trying to make sense of it all. "You know them?"
"Just some rogues," he muttered, his voice tense. "I'll be right back."
The air felt heavy, and my stomach twisted. Something about the way he said it made me uneasy.
"Parker, wait!" I called after him, but he was already moving. I rushed back into the room, quickly cleaning my clothes and washing my hands before chasing after him.
Memi headed off in another direction, probably to fetch King Calum.
When we got outside, I froze. A group of leopard beastmen stood on one side, tense and ready, while tiger beastmen stood opposite them, their postures brimming with aggression.
And then I saw her.
The largest tiger—a male—stood at the center, but my attention was immediately drawn to the striking female perched on his shoulders. Her hair was cut short into a reddish-brown pixie, and her big, purple-blue eyes seemed to gleam with mischief, and exuded an air of provocativeness, akin to a villainess. Her striking appearance stood out in the tense atmosphere.
"Parker," she called out, her voice dripping with confidence. Her smile reminded me of a feline cat."You finally came out."
Then, as if she owned the entire moment, she added, "Have you decided to finally be my male?"
I couldn't help myself. The words slipped out before I could stop them. "Wow!"
The idea of a female openly pursuing Parker like this was shocking no, wonder he was hooked on looks and haughty in his nature. I had no idea what to think or how to react, and from the look on Parker's face, neither did he.
Parker POV
I squared my shoulders, staring her down. My voice was firm, leaving no room for doubt. "I'd rather be a single male than ever be your male. Besides," I added, with my head high. "I already have my own female."
Her reaction was instant. The tiger female's eyes darted toward Imara, and her face twisted with shock. She gasped, her expression cycling through several shades of anger and disbelief as her hands balled into fists, fur bristling on the back of her mate.
"What?! That's... I-Imara?!" she stammered, her voice cracking. The tiger beastmen growled low, their reactions confirming that they recognized Imara too.
"I-I haven't heard of Imara being your mate!" she snapped, her tone filled with jealousy and barely concealed anger.
Before I could respond, she began ranting, her words tumbling out in a rush. "It doesn't matter—"
I cut her off, pointing firmly at Bai Qingqing. "She is my mate."
Her reaction to Bai Qingqing was immediate and cruel. I could feel her jealousy as she let out a laugh, sharp and mocking, shaking her head as though she couldn't believe her ears. "You're joking. You've chosen her?" she sneered, her gaze raking over Bai Qingqing with disdain. "That ugly freak? Look at her! Mud and lice in her hair. She's filthy!"
She scoffed, her tone dripping with disgust. "What a disgrace. You've fallen so far, Parker."
Anger surged through me, and I stepped forward, my tail lashing behind me. "You've already schemed against me," I growled, my voice cold, "but don't you dare bully my mate."
