As we walked home, my irritation with Parker simmered beneath the surface. His attitude, his disrespectful words toward Bai Qingqing and me, all grated on my nerves. But one look at Harvey—steady, dependable—reminded me that not all beastmen were impulsive brutes. Harvey had shown me what a true protector was.

"Parker really gets on my nerves. He can miss me with that bullshit he be spitting out his mouth," I vented to Harvey, shaking my head.

Harvey looked apologetic, his steady gaze softening. "I'm sorry he acted that way. But I promise you," he said, tightening his grip on my hand, "I wouldn't let him hurt you. He knows the rule about harming females." The warmth of his hand instantly cooled my anger, and a smile broke across my face, the tension leaving my shoulders.

"Thank you for protecting me," I murmured, squeezing his hand in return. "You just made me feel a lot better."

Harvey blushed, that beautiful shade I'd come to love, and nodded. "Good. It's our duty to protect, to make sure other males remember what they can and can't do."

The moments that the protagonist, Bai Qingqing, would have experienced with other characters, she shared instead with me, as I became the one to guide her and provide the information she needed. I wasn't bothered by this change; I knew the main events would still unfold as they were meant to.

As I reflected on the story's timeline, I realized that, based on what I knew, Bai Qingqing was likely about to be kidnapped by Curtis in the next day or two. In the novel, she'd only been in the valley for a week before Curtis took her, and now it had been approximately seven days since her arrival.

I recalled from the story that it would take about forty days for Bai Qingqing to reach the City of Beast after her kidnapping. Curtis had mentioned that he first found her on a Golden Moon, and it was indeed a Golden Moon when he later told her they had been together for a month. The other Moons also held different meanings, like the Orange Moon for three months and the Silver Moon symbolizing a full year.

As I connected the dots, it became clear that the story was unfolding just as I remembered it.

I knew that Curtis's kidnapping of Bai Qingqing marked a significant turning point in the plot, and I braced myself for what lay ahead. This was her pivotal moment, her story's turning point. Still, being here, things were shifting, and I could feel it.

But for now, I decided to focus on the present and enjoy my time with Harvey and the tribe while I still could

As I walked beside Harvey, his familiar presence grounding me, I thought, Maybe this world isn't quite as unpredictable as it seems. Harvey was a solid constant, and his presence brought me peace.

Just then, Harvey's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Can I ask something?"

I looked over, intrigued by his curious expression.

"Miss me with that..." He paused, furrowing his brow. "With that 'bull...shit'—what does that mean?" He tilted his head, clearly puzzled. "Does it have to do with spitting? Parker doesn't look like he ate anything poisonous...is bullshit poisoning?"

A laugh erupted from me, catching me off guard. "Bwhahaaa!" His innocent curiosity and the way he tried to replicate my slang were adorable. "No, it means when someone's talking nonsense, and you know they're wrong, so you're not going to entertain it." I continued laughing, wiping my eyes, feeling grateful for his lightheartedness in this strange world. I couldn't have chosen a more adorable beastman to bumble through my slang with if I'd tried.

As we arrived home, Harvey promptly washed up, following the routine I had suggested just a few days ago. It warmed my heart to see how attentive he was, always managing to stay a step ahead of me when it came to household chores.
