"Pfft! Baby what?" I looked at him, surprised.

He met my gaze, his tone firm but calm. "They hurt your feelings. Any other male would have killed or disfigured them. They wouldn't have escaped the guards or the male villagers. I spared them by doing it this way, and they know that. They're fine."

John, still looking battered but composed, added, "He's right, Imara. We're fine. What we did wasn't right, and we should have suffered worse than that..."

I didn't protest. I just nodded and said softly, "Understood, my love."

Taking a deep breath, I looked at the guys again. They were really in bad shape—like they'd been jumped—and I was sure they had some semi-serious wounds.

I fought the urge to baby them. Harvey was right; they had to face the consequences of their actions, especially within the rules of their world.

"Thank you for the gifts," I said with sincerity. Despite their pain, they all smiled. It was a small gesture, but it tugged at my heart. They began cleaning up the mess I had made earlier.

Instinctively, I started to step in, feeling responsible for the chaos. "Wait, I should—"

Harvey gently stopped me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "They've got it from here. Follow me," he said, his voice leaving no room for argument.

He led me back to our room, guided me to sit down, and then crouched before me, his piercing gaze meeting mine. "Are you happy now, my love?"

I felt tears welling up but quickly blinked them away. My emotions were a whirlwind—relief, happiness, closure—but above all, I felt a deep surge of love for Harvey.

"Yes," I replied, my voice steady. "Thank you for doing that for me. You didn't have to. I was going to stick by my decision."

I looked down at my lap, trying to collect myself.

I dropped to my knees in front of her, gently cupping her face in my hands and lifting it so she would meet my gaze. "I know you were standing firm in your decision," I began, my voice steady but soft. "But if I can help ease your burdens, especially when it comes to your heart, I will. Your happiness and well-being are the most important things to me."

I paused, letting her absorb my words, before continuing. "Besides, I gave them two options: accept your friendship or leave and never come back. It was the only way."

Her eyes searched mine, and for a moment, I saw her processing every word. Her gaze softened, but I felt the weight of my own emotions threatening to surface. Anxiety crept into me as I added, "I know forcing them out might have made you unhappy, but it would have been worse if I hadn't done something. Not all males are as considerate as they pretend to be." I hesitated, my next words heavy. "Besides—"

Before I could finish, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to mine in a deep, passionate kiss. It wasn't just affection—it was love, reassurance, and acceptance all at once. I felt the warmth of it wash over me, soothing the tension in my chest.

When we parted, I was breathless. My face flushed, and I knew my emotions were plain on my face. Longing. Relief. Love. Desire.

"I trust you completely, my love," she said, her voice steady, her brown eyes unwavering. "Never doubt yourself. I will always support your decisions when you're considering what's best for me, for us."

Her words hit me like a wave, and I gazed at her in awe. "You never cease to amaze me," I murmured. My voice wavered slightly as I asked, "How did you know I was—?"

She smiled, cutting me off. "Because I understand you as much as you understand me. I know I never have to doubt or question you.

Her lips pressed gently against my eyelids, a tender, intimate gesture that made my chest ache with emotion.
