Taking a deep breath, I mustered the courage to admit, "I've known of you for a long time." Harvey's eyes widened, visibly shaken by my revelation.

I decided to be honest but carefully adjusted the details. I couldn't bring myself to admit the truth—that this world and Harvey were characters in a novel I once read, never meant to be real. That secret felt too overwhelming, too surreal to share. Instead, I told him a version that made sense in this reality, keeping the heart of my feelings intact.

Harvey POV

Imara's words hit me like a crashing wave. "There was a female who came to this world," she began, her tone serious and laced with sadness. "She went through so many things. But eventually, she was poofed back home, the same way she was brought here. I had come to learn of all she had experienced here. Her life was full of immense hardships—thousands of deaths, schemes, wars, and countless sad times."

The pieces started to click in my mind, my heart pounding with the weight of her revelation. "This female being Bai Qingqing?" I asked, my voice restraint to a degree.

She nodded. "Yes."

I tried to steady myself, though my thoughts raced. "So, you poofed here just like her. I remember you telling me that."

Again, she nodded. "Yes."

Her eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a mixture of sorrow and determination in them. "And you know all the terrible things to happen?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes," she admitted, her voice soft yet firm.

I took a moment to process, trying to grasp the scope of what she was saying. My chest felt tight. "Do I play a part?" I finally asked, bracing myself.

She met my gaze, and I could see the weight of her words before she even spoke. "Yes, you do. You contribute in many ways with your medical skills and knowledge from your travels."

Her hesitation before continuing didn't escape me. "However," she added carefully, "you lead a sad life for the rest of your days. You cared for Bai Qingqing deeply, but you were ultimately rejected by both her and Parker."

The words sliced through me, sharper than any claw or blade ever could. My heart clenched, but I remained silent as she pressed on. "Still, you helped her anyway. Later, when you reunited, she was pregnant, and you assisted her through her pregnancy with its complications, even though you knew you'd never find a mate, or happiness, or have children of your own."

She took a deep breath before continuing. "After surviving the war, you could only envision being part of her family, but you knew you couldn't fight for that place. When she poofed back to her world, her children were left behind, and you watched over them and took care of them to a degree."

I swallowed hard, my mind swirling with emotions. "So that's why you asked if I was really Harvey and thought I liked her in the beginning?" I asked, my voice low.

She nodded again.

"Understood," I murmured, though understanding didn't make the pain any easier to bear. I exhaled deeply, trying to steady my heart, and asked the question I dreaded. "How many of us die?"

Her face filled with sorrow as she replied, "Tens of thousands."

The weight of her words struck me like a boulder to the chest. My knees nearly buckled, and I stumbled backward. Imara rushed to steady me, her hands firm but gentle.

"Tens of thousands?" I repeated, my voice shaking. "I-Imara, tens of thousands is the whole City of Beastmen!"

"You're correct," she confirmed solemnly.
