Jodha- Pakistani Suit Set / Dupatta - Scarf
Mahinoor's P.O.V
"Api, how is this jodha?" Roza said showing off the dupatta on herself, rolling my eyes at her I unfolded the other sets to take a good look at them. "Api, there has to be one that catches your eye?"
"None," I sighed, "There is nothing here that can mask my disappointment in marrying Rehan."
"That is not fair to him," Roza sighed handing the suits back to the store clerk, "Can you show us other designs please?"
"I do not know why you are so defensive of him all the time Roza," I say looking at her suspiously, "Do you like him because if you do then you can have him gladly."
"He is 12 years older than me Api," She said with a blank look, "Maybe if he was closer to my age group, I would volunteer to get married to him instead of you."
"Really?" I ask, "What is so right about him that you would volunteer?"
Roza turned to face me pushing away the dress she was eyeing down for herself, "What is so wrong with him?" She countered,
"He cannot stand up for himself," I answered right away, "If he could just tell Khala and Khalu this problem that has been in my life would have disappeared a long time ago. Roza, what is the point of having a husband who cannot stand up for himself, what if I need his support to do something in the future and they don't like it? Who is going to defend me if someone disrespects me?" Roza shrunk down her eyes and took a quick glance behind me, but I ignored it as it was her nervous habit. "I may not know him so well Roza, but I know enough to know that I do not want to get married to someone like him. In fact, right now I do not want to get married to anyone."
"Harsh," Rehan's voice cut through the silence, my eyes widened in surprise.
"What the hell?" I mouth to Roza, keeping my back to him.
She shrugged, "Rehan Bhai," She said quietly, "W-What are you doing here?"
"I came here to talk to Mahinoor," He said firmly, "Tum bahar jao, Aryan is waiting in the car." (Go wait outside, Aryan is waiting in the car.)
Roza nodded quickly grabbing her stuff she rushed out of the store, and as he came to sit where she was sitting previously, raising his eyebrow he kept quiet. "What?" I asked softly, avoiding his gaze.
"Continue what you were saying to Feroza,"
Swallowing harshly I sat up straighter, "Sorry," I whispered looking into his eyes, "I shouldn't have said those things. I just-"
"You meant them Mahinoor," Rehan interrupted me, "So, continue what else do you not like about me?"
Why was he being difficult? "Rehan, mein sorry bol rahi hoon." (Rehan, I am really sorry) Breathing out heavily, "Look, I took my anger out somewhere I shouldn't have. Abba and Ammi have even more control if that is possible, and now they sent Roza and me out to look at clothes, so I was just irritated. Seriously, nothing else." There was more, a lot more but I wasnt going to say it to him. Who knows what he will do. . .I do not know if I can trust him yet.
Rehan shook his head in disbelief but nevertheless dropped the argument, "Did Alizeh call you?" He asked
Confused I ask, "How do you know?"
"Cause I asked her too," He said casually, "Khala and Khalu, do they know?"
What the fuck? "No," I said cautiously, "Why would I tell Amma and Baba something like that without talking to you first?"
