Mahinoor's P.O.V

"Hey, this is Rehan, if you have reached my voice mail that probably means that I am busy so either leave a message or wait for me to call you back." Irritated I threw my phone on the couch, as I crossed my arms pacing back and forth in the living room. I understood that he wanted to spend some time with Alizeh but he could at least call me and let me know where he was. It has been more than four hours since we landed here in New York and I hadn't had a drop of. Water or a single piece of food in my stomach.

Azlaan Bhai quickly put my bags in the apartment and left saying that he had some meeting to attend. I have used my time wisely to unpack and set up my things but right now I am starving for some food and his apartment barely had anything in it.

Looking at the blank screen of the TV, my stomach growls louder. I rummage through my purse tired of waiting for a phone call back and find 60 dollars Canadian, that would be around 40 dollars American. There had to be some sort of fast food place around here that I could get some food with.

Quickly grabbing a jacket I tuck the apartment key in my pocket and head downstairs where I notice an old man sitting at the front desk. I walk up to him with a smile, "Excuse me," I get his attention.

"Yes?" He answered roughly

"I am new here, and really hungry actually. Would you mind letting me know if there is a place I can get food nearby?"

"Which apartment are you in?" He asked curiously.

"606, I am Rehan Khan's..." What should I say? Wife, friend, colleague, "Family friend." I looked down at his name tag, it said Frank. "My name is Mahi." I kept it short and simple. "Nice to meet you, Frank."

He smiled at me softly, "Nice to meet you too Mahi."

My stomach growled louder causing my cheeks to turn pink in embarrassment. "So would you tell me?"

"Right," Frank said, "Down the block, there is a small restaurant that should still be open."

"Thank you," I say, before heading out of the apartment complex and heading down the block just as he said, hoping to find some food to fill my stomach, it took me a few minutes to find it, but when I did it wasnt very much.

It was a small corner store that had "Bakery Dreams," written on the window. I looked around for a restaurant, but I did not see it, so I decided to head in as it was open still, the bell rang as I walked through and as soon as I did a young girl appeared infront of me with a big smile, "Welcome to Bakery Dreams," She said, "How may I help you today?"

"Um. . ." I say looking over the menu, "I am new here, so is there anything you would recommend off your menu? Everything looks so good."

Her smile got even wider, "Well Ms. Newbie, our most popular item on the menu is the creamy chicken pot pie, and the second most loved item is the raspberry tart can be used as a dessert." Just the sound of those two items made my stomach churn from extreme hunger.

"Great, I will have them both." I agreed,

The girl typed in my order and said, "The total will be 16 dollars and 65 cents."

Looking down into my waller I pulled out forty Canadian dollars, and she looked at me surprised, "Canadian?"

"Yeah," I said quietly, "I just landed from Ontario today, and I haven't eaten anything all day. so if you. would please accept this-"
