Just nearly 2 weeks after the invasion, the local population in Trostland, a town near the capital, had heard news of the invasion that led to the destruction and occupation of Ethos Prime. The alien population there began to grow increasingly violent and began to attack one another including humans.
Some Shadow Covenant forces managed to infiltrate the town and began to cause chaos all over, throwing bombs and shooting. The Shadow Covenant managed to build an airbase nearby where they would be able to supply, dock ships, and grab prisoners. With the GDC in shambles, local police and militias took over as the sole protectors of their towns. But they still believed that they would be saved somehow.
Devirm Kay, Captain of the Trostland Defense Force along with Lieutenant Hawthorne managed to get the militia up and running. As Hawthorne began to get civilians from both Trostland and the survivors from the city attack to safety, the local militias battled the alien insurgency.
The refugees were sent to an old farm on top of a mountain range where they would stay there until the war was over.
Remaining GDC on earth were sent to quell and help the villagers to which they rejoiced that there was still some hope for everyone. Small GDC squads and the local militias took headquarters in an old abandoned church and began to launch guerrilla warfare raids against any Red Legion convoys, bases, and small offensives against insurgents.
Forests were the toughest spots for the war because you never knew where the enemy was. I remember when I was with my Unit: GDC 2nd infantry and the 24th Trostland Defense Militia and we were attacked by a group of Eliksni raiders. We managed to stop them but we lost 13 out of 39 people including our greatest commander: Captain Drags.
Eventually, we gained more support from other surviving GDC units and began mounting defenses all across the territory. Trostland became a heavy battle site with raids happening almost daily and civilians still trapped. It seemed that it was going to be a very long road before the war would end.
