"Attention, all citizens! Soldiers of both the Galactic Federation and the now disbanded Shadow Covenant! From the planets and Star systems who had suffered in this brutal war! It is over! The war is over!!! Dark Master has finally been defeated! The war which had lasted for a long time is now over! We have achieved peace!"
-President Zavala, Final Military Broadcast
The Civil War was finally over.
Dark Master and all his Shadow Covenant followers had been defeated.
And peace finally returned to the galaxy.
Crowds all across had rejoiced that the suffering had ended and now freedom could now be placed upon the galaxy.
The Shadow Covenant, once a most feared empire with soldiers and arms and militaristic ideals as well as cults of worshippers and millions of followers, now a scattered and isolated pocket of insurgents and rebels which has now been defeated in a senseless war of their own making.
As soon as the news had spread that the war was over, millions of Shadow Covenant soldiers had been lost in thought and realized the war they fought so for was now over and their enemy had won.
Some were in shock, others were relieved, most were troubled, some didn't know what to do next, and a small few couldn't believe they lost the war.
The question was what to do next.
Most of them laid down their weapons and surrendered.
Others who were so loyal to the Shadow Covenant and its leaders, to the ideals, and to their lies, continued to fight.
But alas the war was over.
The remaining Shadow Covenant leaders met in the old Capital building where the Galactic Federation had taken the key city just last week and soon had to sign a treaty that would change everything. Forever.
This would be the last day of the Shadow Covenant.
With the war over, Shadow Covenant troops were ordered to disband and give up their weapons and most of them did. All 1.4 million of the remaining army without a leader had surrendered. Even the officers who still could not believe that they had lost.
But a small number of Shadow Covenant loyalists and worshippers who had heard the news even in the far reaches of space, that couldn't believe it, had wanted to keep the war going.
A selection of the finest commanders, leaders, priests, and even other allied forces within the Shadow Covenant began to flee in the outer territory of space and there they would continue the fight within.
The remaining Scorn forces that had been present in Hivus Secundus either surrendered or continued the fight.
And the Awokos were starting to rebuild what was lost while also kicking out the remaining Taken forces out of the system.
Eramis, leader of the House Salvation, fled the system while her faction had already either surrendered or formed small pirate forces that would later be repelled.
Xivu Arath would later be arrested by the Galactic Federation Security Corps and placed on trial while her sister, Savathun would control and incorporate her faction into her empire.
Caitial, Empress of the Cabal would go on to lead her people through peace and prosperity and the Cabal who had fought for the wrong side would either be imprisoned for eternity or given another chance to make up for their bad deeds.
As for the Vex, many of them were repurposed to be helping robots that would go around and clean or provide service for the people. Those that didn't found themselves in the hands of local raiders or local defense forces. And the ones that remained loyal to the Shadow Covenant would join a rising new faction willing to take its place.
As for the city of Ethos Prime and the rest of the galaxy, reconstruction began as soon as the war was over and the ones who had died on the field were honored with statues and a commemorative plaque as well as a grave site dedicated to their sacrifice including Cayde-6 who was the big statue in the cemetery.
Those charged of war crimes found themselves executed, imprisoned, or given another chance. To
Make up for their bad deeds. As for Mithrax, he continued to build an increasing powerful and more positive livelihood for the Eliksni while his daughter, Eido would remain as the ambassador to the Eliksni eventually settling down and marrying a human scribe by the name of Jonah Ramson and having 4 children.
Peace was finally achieved in the galaxy which meant the vanguard was no more. Well not almost no more. While it continued to prevail it's duty as protecting the people of the galaxy, the GDC itself was reorganized from a military force into a small security corps and many veterans of the war later retired from service.
President Zavala was later done with his term and passed the torch to a new president who would be as fair as he was while he traveled across the galaxy for a new life away from war. He died only 15 years later but lived a peaceful and much more happy life.
Ikora married another person and later raised a family of her own with about 3 children, one of whom would be the new warlock vanguard in the next war.
Saint 14 went on to spread the reconstruction efforts while Lord Shaxx retired from military service but his grandson would later finish the job for him.
As for many leaders within the Galactic Federation and the GDC, a new life was giving a new sense of fresh air for them all.
For now, the time to fight was over at last.
But in the next 30 years, a new war would later break out. This time with one remaining faction of the Shadow Covenant, formed by Dark Master's son and new second in command.
