While battles continued to rage all over the galaxy, there was a rising battle being waged on the Capital planet itself. After the events of the Red Legion assault and the sudden declaration of war by the Shadow Covenant, everyone was losing their minds.
As new military laws and regulations popped up, so did the anger come from all the citizens of the Federation. Ethos Prime was placed in a state of emergency again after riots and protests were caused by the many military forces in the city trying to enforce the laws they placed.
Rationing and military exercises on the city population continued as long as the war lasted but of course not everyone was a fan. Even the Galactic Federation was divided over these restrictions. Never in Galactic history had this happened before and it had never brought them to the point where it felt like they were oppressing the people they swore to protect.
But surprisingly, everyone was still loyal and kept the fighting morale going. Recruitment and Enlistment Centers started to imply a military conscription law that would allow all citizens of fighting age to join either the GDC or the HomeLand National Defense Force. From all over the galaxy and the city, thousands of citizens who held onto hope joined the military and were trained to fight for the galaxy and their homes.
Ethos Prime was put under martial law shortly after Chairman Zavala declared war on the Shadow Covenant so with that came a long line of military troops being stationed at the capital. They began to borrow civilian infrastructure such as shops and small homes and began using them as military makeshift bases and small command posts. Of course this angered most people but it was how it was.
Aside from the capital, there were also increasing tensions and reports from every city in the world who also suffered from the same stuff as the galaxy was experiencing. For example, Trostland. Shortly after word broke out that Ethos Prime was retaken, the village militia along with their GDC allies began to slowly push through but were unable to defeat all of the insurgents.
In the EDZ, small battles occurred out in forest areas which seemed to make it prone for ambushes and small raids being used by both sides. The old Cabal War base that was established after the Red Legion Revolution also had to deal with similar problems and was frequently attacked by raiders and pirates. The GDC eventually came across it again and managed to take down one of the Legion's top field commanders, Bracus Zahn.
The mines close to the base were also attacked by GDC as means to cut enemy resources and supplies to and from the many combat zones around the area.
Many cities within range had to be evacuated immediately due to obvious reasons and GDC troops began laying down for the many battles to come. The GDC eventually came together to launch a counter attack against rising Shadow Covenant forces on Earth and while it didn't do much, it did spare time for the GDC to get more reinforcements.
(Trostland)
As for the Cosmodrome though, things did not seem any better.
For one thing, while the local militias were able to receive their needed supplies and get many troops ready, there were still some minor difficulties. As the GDC in the cosmodrome was trying its best to regain lost ground, large amounts of Shadow Covenant forces began landing here in no time at all. They managed to overpower them with everything they had.
Many factions eventually came to join either side but no matter how many groups joined, they could not defeat the full might of the Shadow Covenant. As such, GDC troops managed to pull out towards the outskirts and close by to the city of Mounta where they established defenses and ways to liberate the area.
Earth was also fearing the fighting coming from the galaxy as well. Cities such as Seattle, Rio De Janiero, Tokyo, Paris, London, Sydney, Cairo, Dubai, and Etc which eventually held large amounts of alien immigrant communities also had to deal with the problem. But like the main government, they were unsuccessful.
Militant factions popped up almost daily and life was unable to go on. Eventually, GDC troops blocked all access routes and placed blockades around the planet to protect it from a potential invasion ever again. Over time, more factions that joined or rejoined the Galactic Federation found themselves to be a part of the reorganization of the GDC which allowed all species to join.
Training and equipment was given to the new recruits who happened to be as skilled as their counterparts and with great training, they proved their valor in many battles. The Empress, Caitial of the Cabal Imperium was very pleased about the recent update on the side of the Galactic Federation that she allowed one of the members of the Vanguard to represent them on the seat of the Cabal Ruling Senate.
Ships and fleets from all over the galaxy which carried the most important leaders of the Galactic Federation's allies met in Ethos Prime and discussed the terms and the creation of a coalition alliance that would be useful to aid themselves against the war.
The treaty was signed and soon every soldier knew what they were fighting for. To bring freedom and peace into the galaxy once more and stop the Shadow Covenant from ever seizing the Light.
