Nearly 2 weeks after the Guardians were sent to all corners of the galaxy, a distress call was sent to the Vanguard from one of their allied nations, Awokos.
Awokos was a planetary system ruled by a monarchy and was populated with Awoken, human like aliens that look like us and sound like us but they usually had pale skin for unknown reasons. The queen was a personal friend of the chairman as was her brother. They had a mutual relationship between one another and were one of the first members of the Galactic Federation to allow Eliksni to join their empire.
They had a small military corps known as the Awokos Security Corps which conducted military training exercises during the Great Galactic Crisis. Petra Venj was promoted to captain after the assault on Venus.
The city center was under attack by all species that lived in it and was under heavy fighting. An insurgency broke out which was lead by one of the Shadow Covenant's leaders, Fikrul the Fanatic along with a mercenary that had big ties to everyone in the Shadow Covenant.
Upon arrival, Joint GDC and local Awokos authorities made great progress towards the insurgents and tried their best to retake the city center. Fighting lasted for almost 2 days but was considered bloody. Riots erupted into chaos after one of the protesters who was a Shadow Warrior threw a grenade which signaled another group to fire rockets.
Protesters clashed against each other and the police was unable to stop them. The Capital was lunged into conflict. With the help of the GDC led by General Cayde, most of the protesters were taken into custody. But then, a Scorn Militant managed to snipe Cayde and he died on impact.
Scorn forces fled to the distant outskirts and established a small compound. Remaining Scorn leaders fled to different parts of the planet while gathering troops and soldiers from the Shadow Covenant they received as reinforcements. A funeral was held at Ethos Prime which mourned the loss of General Cayde.
After the funeral, GDC troops in Awokos with Local Special Forces launched an attack on Scorn Territory. Fighting lasted for nearly a week until Petra Venj along with a group of Eliksni mercenaries who were loyal followers of the Galactic Federation managed to launch a final assault. Fikrul escaped along with a small contingency of Scorn troops, but the ones responsible for Cayde's death eventually were trialed and some were executed for heavy war crimes.
Awokos was retaken but as a result, it still had to deal with small insurgent groups and potential invasions which were mostly common in one of their provinces. As the war dragged on, Taken mercenaries were sent to aid the Scorn who managed to escape and flee from captivity and since then, fighting has raged on ever since.
In fact, the war dragged on for so long that some Awoken decided to join the Shadow Covenant in an attempt to somehow make peace and forge an alliance with them as means to join the winning team.
