Kate, Jon, and Jordan had walked up to their parents since they were worried about John Henry and how he was doing. Nat had stayed at the hospital with her father since she didn't want to leave him at all in his condition. Kate was a bit upset that Natalie was blaming Clark as if he was the one who did it but she also understood where she was coming from to judge.

"We smell banana muffins," Jordan stated as they came into the kitchen

"They're for Natalie, Not fair, Ah, thanks," Clark spoke as she handed him his

"So, uh, any updates on John Henry?" Kate asked they walked into the room

"Yeah, I talked to the doctors this morning, he's out of the ICU, but he does have a tough recovery ahead," Lois explained to her kids

"So it takes it that means that Nat won't be making it to the party?" Jon questioned looking between the adults

"Unfortunately not and it's probably not the best time to be hosting a party," Clark commented making Kate look at him

"We're not canceling, right? I mean, it's kind of a big deal and it's not just a normal party, they've studied for this," Kate stated to their parents

"We wouldn't do that to Sarah but there's just a few things I have to take care of first," Clark stated in response

"Yeah, and I have to go to the office for a little bit so I need you three to stay here, people are coming soon to set up the barn, so make sure they have everything they need," Lois directed her kids

"Okay, don't worry," Jon responded before they left

Once everyone had everything set up, Kate went out with Marcus as an early birthday gift as Jordan had already made plans with Sam for the night. Kate and Marcus were sitting in a booth at the diner eating dinner and joking around.

"The barn is looking amazing," Kate commented to her boyfriend

"Well, if it's designed by you and your mother then I have no doubt," Marcus spoke making her nod

"Your hair looks good today," Kate admitted to the boy

"Kathryn Kent, are you flirting with me?" Marcus mocked leaning closer

"Maybe but I could move over to scolding if you like," Kate charmed with a smirk

"Hmm, Flirty or Bossy? Why not both," Marcus remarked before kissing her

"You only get one side so pick wisely," Kate whispered as she pulled away

"Mom has been trying to rope me into dance lessons with her before the party," Marcus spoke in a soft tone

"Not into dancing?" Kate questioned the boy

"I know how to dance but I'd prefer not to dance until the night of," Marcus admitted to her

Marcus and Kate had joked around some more before heading home for the night as the party was the next day and they needed a good night's rest. Before, Kate knew it she was walking into the barn with Marcus by her side as everyone was arriving.

"You did the split foods," Kate spoke as she saw the table

"Yeah, we had a little help deciding," Marcus joked with the blonde

"Smart move," Kate joked with a laugh

"I'm sorry, we would've invited Candice, but, you know, with my court, we kind of hit our guest limit," Sarah spoke as she and the boys walked up to them

"It's all good, don't worry about it," Jon responded with a smile

"Guys, why don't you go show them the table?" Lana suggested to her kids

"Okay, come on," Sarah agreed taking ahold of Jordan's hand

"Have fun, you guys," Lana spoke in a sweet tone

"The barn cleans up nicely, I see," Marcus remarked to his girlfriend

"Well, I think you clean up nicely," Kate mocked holding his tie

"In addition to the barn, you look beautiful," Marcus charmed before pulling her to the dance floor

"Happy birthday to the best boyfriend ever," Kate whispered before kissing him

"Thank you, Sweetheart," Marcus greeted before the music started playing and Lana walked up to them

Kate nodded and then went to get something to drink as it was time for the father-daughter and mother-son dance. It was going nicely until Sarah ran out leaving them alone on the dance floor causing everyone to share a look. The Cortez family rushed after to make sure she was okay and to see what was wrong and after a few, they concluded the night with a speech then everyone went home.
