finishing work at 5pm, liberty helped close up before driving herself to daniel's house to have dinner together and talk about each of their previous night, like the two had agreed on doing that morning.

and by the time she was arriving, daniel was almost done cooking their dinner. he knew she would b-line straight to the pantry for a snack once she got inside because she wouldn't have eaten since she had arrived to work at 11.

"you're already making food?!" liberty gasped the second she walked in the door and saw him in the kitchen. "thank god, i'm starving."

"yes," he chuckled, watching her as she kicked her shoes off by the door, leaving her in just socks before walking over to him and dumping her bag on the island.

"i thought you asked what i preferred to make sure you had everything?" she furrowed, looking in the pan at the food. "yummy."

"i knew you wouldn't have eaten at work," he rested the wooden spoon on the pan for a second as he hugged his best friend, placing a small kiss on the top of her head.

"i do eat at work!" she argued, pulling away and grabbing a glass out of the cupboard above, then look back at him. "just not on short days."

"six hours in not short.." he reminded her — as he does every time.

"whateverr," she sarcastically replied.

"how was work today?"

"average."

"nothing fun?"

"nope."

"do you wanna go sit down, i'll plate this up and bring it over," he looked over and smiled at her as he switched the topic, then switching off the element he was using.

"kay," she happily agreed, pulling her phone out of her pocket as she wandered over to the dining table.

doing as he said, he grabbed out two plates and dished up the food, quickly setting the pan in the sink, running some hot water and dishwashing liquid in it to soak. he then took the plates over to the table where he sat down at the seat beside her.

"did you have work this weekend?" he softly question, between bits, to break the comfortable silence between them.

"mhm," liberty hummed. "tomorrow."

"not going in sunday, monday?"

"nope," she quickly shook her head.

"i thought you did?"

"um i did but we needed to move it," she shrugged it off as she continued to keep her gaze on what she was eating.

"do you wanna plan a day next week to properly meet violet?" he more so suggested. "she really wants to meet you.."
