"mom.." liberty slightly mumbled as she walked into her mother's bedroom where she was putting some clean laundry away. "can you help me.. with something..?"
it now being monday, daniel and liberty were due to fly back to la the following day so were spending the time with their respected families.
although around midday on this particular afternoon, liberty had spend a couple hours in her bedroom, trying to have a nap since she was tired but was too distracted about everything else in her life that only her best friend partially knew about.
knowing that her step-dad and two younger siblings were downstairs, she decided she should take the opportunity to have a conversation with her mother.
softly knocking on the door as she gained the attention of the other before asking if they could.
"yeah, what's wrong?" kate slightly furrowed at the girl, watching as liberty shut the door and wandered over to the bed — prompting her to go over too. "..are you okay, honey?"
"i'm pregnant," she quietly blurted out as she avoided making eye contact. "i don't want to be.."
"oh, my lilli.." she pulled her daughter in, letting them sit in comfortable silence for a moment. "..when did you last have your period?"
"i don't know.. a few weeks ago.."
"before or after meeting aj?" she slightly furrowed as she lifted her head back to see the girl better.
"before- the week i met him"
"okay," she hesitantly nodded. "and did you take a test?"
"mhm, the other day.."
"and it was positive already.." kate quietly furrowed to herself. "honey.." she rubbing her thumb over her hair, getting her to look at her. "that's not how at home pregnancy tests work- unless it's not his and it was implantation bleeding- but that's not like a period.."
"oh.."
"it won't be correct till like six to eight weeks from your last period, honey.."
"but i wasn't felling well? and the one time i.. done anything.. before my period, i took.. plan b.. after.."
"okay, well, there's a good chance whatever test you took the other day had been a false positive.. there could be many reasons you felt sickly, and if you haven't been.. safe, of course your mind would've went to being pregnant first.."
and as liberty thought more about it, she realised that the situation was kind of odd..
"please, no, i don't feel well," liberty slightly groaned as she turned away from her boyfriend touch as they were laying in bed, needing to get up soon and leave for the airport. "i feel like i'm going to throw up."
"do you think you're pregnant?" he replied suspiciously quick. the comment causing her heart to sink as she rolled around to face him.
"i hope not.."
"don't you think a little me or you would be so cute?"
"i don't want a kid right now," she shook her head.
"i might have a test actually," he ignored what she had said. "from when my ex thought she was pregnant- thank god she wasn't, i did not want to deal with her for life."
"if you got someone pregnant will you stay with for life?" she furrowed.
"yea, that's my kid."
"mh.."
"you should take the test," he said as he got up from the bed. "let me find it."
"okay.."
knowing everything his ex had told her, she didn't know how to reacted or even what to say other than giving in and saying; "okay.."
"it could've just been a faulty test, lil.." kate reassured her daughter. "does aj know?"
she nodded.
".. and not that he should influence your choice, but what does he think about it? are you on the same page?" she received a head shake. "you two aren't on the same page?"
"mhm.."
"okay.. well it's your body so it's your choice. if you don't want to have a baby right now- or ever for that matter, lilli, we can do something about it if that's what you'll like to do.." she explained, watching as the girl hesitated. "and aj doesn't necessarily need to know you done anything if you don't want him to.. it's early enough to lie to him.."
"but," she quickly continued. "i just want to add.. if he doesn't respect whatever decisions you want to make for yourself, he's not worth it. i know it may be hard to accept when someone you like is a bad person but maybe just keep it in your mind that him making decisions about your body isn't okay.."
"i don't want to have a baby right now," she cried.
"i understand, hun," she pulled her back in. "we'll get up in the morning, come to work with me and i'll write you a prescription for the abortion pill... it's will just be like having a heavy period, even if you're not pregnant it'll be okay to take, it just tiggers your body to start the menstrual process after you take it. but that'll just prevent you from worrying about the what if.."
kate placed a kiss on the top of her daughter's head as she continued to hold her in her arms before adding; "and just tell aj it must've been a faulty test and you've got your period, okay?"
"okay," she softly nodded, tears will rolling out of her eyes.
