unable to sleep well throughout the night, daniel got up and got ready for the day before violet who eventually did a couple hours later. agreeing to have breakfast at the cafe next to his friend's work, the two were soon leaving the boy's house and headed there.
arriving there, they ordered a drink each and something to eat, then taking a seat at one of the cafe's indoor tables. talking about what they wanted to get up to after booking voilet's hair appointment while they waited for the food to be brought over.
and once they had finally finished eating, letting the food settle for a moment before the two neatly left the dishes stacked on the small table for the staff to clean, then headed out and next door to the salon.
"hey daniel," autumn smiled at the boy, looking over her shoulder to the girl sweeping up around the salon. "lilli."
"oh.." liberty mumbled to herself, quickly taking the broom out to the back room and then heading over to the front desk. "hey violet."
"hi," she softly smiled, both her and daniel puzzled on why she didn't say anything to him.
"i can't do your hair today, are you aware of that?" she furrowed, her eyes flickering over to the guy sat in the corner of the salon's little waiting area. "that's why i said to call to book your appointment.."
"oh dan-"
"i thought it would be easier for you to see her hair in person so you can work out what you need to do," daniel quickly interrupted the younger girl. "and i wanted to see you-"
"sir," liberty cut him off. "do you mind waiting outside or zipping your lips, there's no need to control your girlfriend. she's capable of speaking for her and making her own choices."
and although she was saying that in reference to the two in front of her, she was speaking just loud enough with the hopes of her own boyfriend hearing it.
"now.. um.. uh i can do.." she continued as she opened up the salon's schedule system. "what do exactly want to book for, violet?"
"just my color darkened a bit and um a cut, a trim," violet answered. "do you need pictures? references?"
"um, yeah, um.. sure, yeah.."
daniel had already clocked onto her odd behaviour. her usual bubbly, social self had been replaced with a awkward, hesitant version. and seeing the guy over in the little waiting around that she kept glancing towards, he was even more confused.
"lil, are you okay?" daniel softly spoke, gaining her attention for a second before she quickly went back the computer, waiting for violet to find a good picture of her hair. "libby?"
"sir, i already asked you to stop."
"okay.." he slowly nodded, taking a seat back from the counter to show respect to her.
"um this is what i usually get," violet turned her phone to liberty, swiping through the couple pictures. "so literally just darker and- i don't want it this short, i just want the same like framing pieces and trim off any dead ends."
"okay so, when were you thinking of getting it done?"
"i was hoping before easter- i know that's only a couple weeks but i was hoping maybe you could fit me in, i can do like any day, any time- ill make sure i have a ride."
"okay.. um.. what about.. next thursday.. the 30th?"
"at what time?"
"oh.. um.." her eyes once again glanced between the guy and the screen. "12:45?"
"i can bring you if you need," daniel added, talking to the younger girl.
"yeah, i can do that," she nodded.
going over the girl's details and taking a deposit, liberty booked her in for the following week and provided her with a business card with the salon's information as well as an estimated price.
"um.. would you.. like me to show you how to book online- for next time?"
"oh yes please," she quickly nodded. "online is my preferred way, i don't like phone calls and coming in is kind of inconvenient," she awkwardly chuckled after her babbling.
"can i just see you phone?"
violet placed her phone on the counter top, watching liberty turn it more towards herself but keeping it there flat so it appeared as though she was in fact showing her. and since daniel knew it was a private link to her booking, he taking a step closer to violet and lightly laying his hand on her hip so he could also watch.
"so um if you.. go here," she spoke, her hands visibly shaking as she swiped down to the phone's search bar and found the girl's notes app, typing out;
' i'm okay. ajbhere j dont want to
bet in to it 'auto correct thanking helping her out just enough for it to be understandable, she quickly swiped off of it and switched over to the booking notification violet had received when liberty had booked her in and opened the link.
"you gotta set up your account with the same number," she explained, her hands already noticeably less shaky. "but you can see you previous booking and book that or it'll give you an option to select something new, it's fairly simple."
"okay," she sent a comforting smiled to the girl as she grabbed her phone back, instantly turning it off and sliding it into her pocket.
"and i'll see you next week," she forced the same expression in return as she was trying to hold back any tears.
"bye lilli, thank you."
"does.. she need to call or anything? .. to like confirm the appointment?" daniel chimed in.
"no, no," she quickly shook her head. "i got it- i know.." she replied, understanding that he was talking about the note and not the appointment but to avoid any confusion from others in the salon she then added; "if you need to cancel you can do it on that link, but it's next week.. i doubt your gonna cancel on me.."
"no of course, i'll be here," she promptly nodded.
"bye," liberty smiled once more.
the two replied the same as they turned around and heading out of the salon, daniel taking one finally subtle glance at aj as he took violet's hand, not saying a word while they walked to his car.
"okay, i believe you now.." violet admitted, glancing up at daniel's eyes as them seemed watery.
"i knew he was weird, but she doesn't want to believe and i just don't know what to do to help," he jumbled his words together while his arms weaved around violet, tightly holding his eyes closed as he head fell to rest against her's.
".. she seems quite aware," she replied, not quite knowing what to say. "if she's still not texting you much, i could talk to her next week and see if she wants to say anything about them.."
"okay.."
