"and for you," daniel smiled at violet as he placed the plate of food down in front of her before sitting down himself.
"thank you," she returned the gesture.
"how was your day?"
"it was good. my sister and i went out for brunch, and then we had a meeting with our manager."
"my day was basically the same minus the brunch," he chuckled.
"um.. so did lilli still want to hang out sometime?" violet questioned after they had fell into silence for a couple minutes as they ate their food.
"i don't know.. i haven't spoken to her much lately," he admitted, a small sigh falling from his lips.
"when i said that i didn't want you talking about her so much to me, i didn't mean you can't talk to her.." she replied, although deep down, selfishly, she liked it since she always felt off about guys with girl best friends — even more so in this case with them being exes.
"no, no, i know.. it's her.. she hasn't messaged much.."
"oh.. is she okay?"
"i assume so," he shrugged. "haven't heard anything about her not showing up to work so... i know she's terrible at replying to a lot of people so i've probably just fallen off of the priority list now that she has aj."
"i also messaged one of her roommates and she said, lilli was over the other day packing a bag of stuff to take to aj's. so i'm guessing she's just like basically moved in there," he continued to babble.
"i was going to ask if you could see if she could do my hair..?" violet slightly switched the subject. "i'm not desperate for it, but definitely in the next couple weeks."
"i can message her. no guarantees we'll get a reply though," he softly chuckled to lighten his mood. "i'll call her if she doesn't reply by the time the weekend's over.."
daniel was actually quite worried about the girl. despite hearing that liberty seems okay, and she did text him just once two nights ago telling him to 'settle' and that she's 'fine'. he was still having a bad feeling, especially after the things he's pieced together about her new boyfriend..
what if he actually was controlling of her.
daniel and violet had fell back into silence as they continued eating. his mind now lost, overthinking everything about his best friend and the possibility of the random dj he's heard next to nothing about.
"do you wanna watch a movie tonight?" he somewhat blurted out, more so to get himself to stop thinking all about the liberty situation.
"mhm. i'm quite tired so cuddling up to a movie sounds very nice," she smiled.
"alright, we'll do that," he nodded. "find something and set it up in my room."
"sound good."
as they finished up dinner and cleaned the dishes, the two had made their way down to daniel's bedroom. getting comfortable and flicking through netflix on the his tv before settling on which movie.
his arm around violet as she one of her arms was across his waist while her head laid against him yet all her could think about was liberty.
he just wanted to hear from her. he wanted to hear about how her day went. he even wanted to hear about her and aj, and whatever they get up to — although he hated it hearing how much she was into other guys, he just liked that he knew she was happy.
and that was when his phone dinged, his gaze instantly shifting to it. seeing her name, he grabbed it and read;
' call me at the salon tomorrow when i can see my schedule '
he furrowed at the message. he knew she had access to it wherever she was. and why did it need to be on the salon's phone and not her's.
"what do you have on tomorrow?" he questioned violet, breaking her attention away from the movie.
"um.. nothing, why?"
"do you wanna go see lilli at her work, she said she can book you in when she's at work with her schedule," he explained while leaving out his worries about the girl.
"okay.. we can do that.." she spoke with slight hesitantion, a little confused on why they needed to go into the salon to book but brushing it off.
"perfect," he softly whispered.
