daniel was very concerned the other day after the text with his best friend's boyfriend's details, but all that worry washed away the second he saw her walking through the airport over to their gate where he was already waiting.

he instantly got up, pulling her into a hug but she didn't hug back.

"aj's here," liberty quietly sniffled, taking a step back from daniel as glancing over her shoulder to make sure he wasn't walking over yet.

"oh? is he coming to seattle?"

"mhm"

"alright," he slowly nodded, turn around and sitting back down where he was before, her hesitantly taking the seat beside him. "so where is this boyfriend?"

"getting coffee.. i knew you'd be here so i wanted to come over before.."

"is everything okay?"

"mhm"

"why'd you.."

"just in case.."

"okay," he slowly nodded, noticing her glance away in the direction she had just came from.

quickly standing up as her boyfriend approached them, slightly wrapping her around around his. "aj.. this daniel, and daniel, aj.. my boyfriend."

"nice to meet you," daniel held his hand out for other to shake, only to awkwardly pull his hand away as the other didn't even attempt to.

"why are you here?" aj muttered. "don't you have your own family to see this weekend?"

"yeah," he chuckled. "my mom's in seattle.. and lilli's family is like my second family.. i always try to spend easter weekend with them because i know it's a hard time for them.."

"right." he glanced around the space. "let's go sit over here, babe."

"we could sit here with daniel," she furrowed slightly. "there's no reason to leave him sitting here alone.. and maybe you can sweet talk him into swapping seats.."

"mate, you're not sitting next to my girlfriend, got it?"

"mh sure.."

the rest of the wait to board the plane was quite quiet, and when finally landing in seattle, keri came and picked the three up as they had organised weeks ago when it was just meant to be her own son and liberty, and driving them to the harris household.

"mama!" for what felt like the first time that day, liberty spoke with excitement that wasn't forced, quickly wrapping arms around her mother as soon as she saw her.

"hi my lilli," kate placed a kiss on her's head before lifting her head up and looking at the unfamiliar boy. "do you want to introduce me to.."

"oh," she pulled away from her mother, looking over at her boyfriend. "this is aj, my boyfriend.. aj this is my mom, kate, and my step-dad, rick."

"hey."

"how are you?"

"good," he nodded.

"hey rick," daniel broke the slight quietness in the room, stepping over and doing a quick handshake with him as he returned the greeting. "and hi kate."

"so how long have you two been together, lil?" rick questioned the girl.

"a month next week," she flashed a smile as she looked over to rick, stepping back towards her boyfriend as his arm went around her lower back.

"mh, okay."

"where's the bathroom, lil," aj quickly gained her attention.

"um.. just down the hall, second door on the right," she pointing in the direction.

the tension in the room was high, so in response, kate starting up a quick conversation with daniel as aj walked down the hall to the bathroom.

"real gentleman that boy," rick spoke up, although keep his tone low.

"he's.. he's just.. not very good around new people.." liberty answered while trying to avoid eye contact with her step-dad. "that's all.."

"he wasn't the nicest in the car either, lilli.." keri added, which actually got her to look over at her.

"mom, please.." daniel shook his head.

"are you happy with him at least?" kate questioned, resulting in a small nod but nothing vocal.

"where are the kids?" liberty switched the conversation.

"they should be home from school soon," her mother answered.

"oh, of course, it's barely three o'clock.."

aj had wrapped his arms around the girl, leaning down and whispering; "show me to your room."

"i'm gonna show aj around, and.. i might take a quick nap, i didn't sleep well last night.."

"go for it," kate agreed.

both grabbing their bags, aj followed the girl upstairs to her childhood bedroom. liberty instantly feeling a sense of comfort as she looked not, the decor being no different to how it was when she was still living at him.

aj was quick to shut the door behind them before grabbing her arm and forcing her to turn around. connecting his lips onto her's and restricting her from pulling away.

"aj!" she just managed to get out, causing him to groan and back away. "i meant it. i wanna sleep. it wasn't an excuse to have sex.."

"well i want to have sex."

"i don't want to have sex when my parents are downstairs.."

"we're adults we're allowed to fuck," he scoffed, watching her walk over to the side of the bed. "they're old enough to get over it."

"my teenage siblings are about to get home.."

"this is why we should've just booked a hotel."

"it's not about that.. it's the moral or it.." she replied as she climbed into bed. "and i don't want to have sex," she mumbled, laying down and getting herself comfortable. "please just sit there on your phone or something and let me sleep, please. or go downstairs and properly introduce yourself to my parents so they don't think you're disrespectful.."

"i don't care what they think."
