after getting her hair done, violet was busy. going from the salon to meeting, then to an event which went way long than both her and her sister were expecting, meaning they both got home and crashed before needing to get up early the following morning for a long shoot day.
and long story short, she hasn't even had five minutes spare to text daniel and give him an update on his best friend which consisted of more than just 'she was being very quiet' and 'she said she's okay though'.
which stressed him out.
as much as he tried not to show it, he hated that he didn't know what liberty was up to. he hated that he had zero updates on her. he just wanted his best friend back.
so when liberty had unexpectedly texted him a couple nights ago, he was taken by surprise and had very quickly agreed to an early birthday dinner.
but that was all that was exchanged;
' usual. 6:30. thurs. for ur bday '
' i'll be there i promise jamesy '
usual. he knew exactly what that meant. where that meant. their favorite la restaurant — well, liberty's, but he liked that there was somewhere she loved.
being, particularly, dairy-free liberty found it boring sometimes when it came to eating out, since at lot of restaurants wouldn't stock products to convert their meals on offer.
so when she was recommend this place, a locally own, semi-popular, place that specialised in all dishes being intolerant friendly, she dragged daniel there that same night, and following. and it quickly became somewhere the two often visited together when they weren't bothered to cook something at home.
picking violet up from her apartment and starting the drive to the restaurant, he quickly bombarded her with all questions about his best friend after, of course, complimenting the slight difference in her hair.
"daniel!" she politely interrupted him, keeping her eyes directly on him as his gaze was glancing between her and the road. "you're seeing her tonight, you can ask her. but like i told you, she didn't talk much, she said she was okay though.."
"was he there again?" his voice soften slightly
"no, he wasn't," she shook her head. "but i wasn't going to pressure her. i don't like talking as it is so i wasn't going to make her if she didn't want to."
"she looked so scared the other day when he was there. i don't know why she doesn't just break up with him- like i know people say abusive relationships aren't easy to leave but smart, she knows when she should leave."
"yes, but.. don't pressure her tonight, daniel. let her just enjoy spending the night out.." she more so suggested. "if she needed help, she would've said that instead of 'i'm okay'," she somewhat reassured him, following with an inaudible sigh.
"i guess.."
anyone would just say he's jealous liberty has a boyfriend that's not him, so he didn't want to argue with violet over it. he didn't want her to think that way.
arriving at the restaurant, they were soon seated, violet looking over the menu, surprised by the options as daniel was on his phone sending a text to liberty to let her know they were there already.
ordering a drink each as their waiter came over to serve them, daniel then turned his attention to violet, a small smile on his face he while watching her decide what meal to order.
fifteen minutes had passed, it was now close to half an hour since the time she said suggested. a small sigh falling from his lips as he glanced down at his phone again. furrowing as he saw the instagram notification;
' lillimckenna added to their story '
he quickly clicked on it, a smile instantly forming as he saw her in a long satin dress and heels — something that was rare to see her in — but also something that was a little too fancy for the restaurant they're at, not that it would've mattered, he loves her all dressed up.
but that expression quickly dropped when he clicked to the next one, a short video she had taken of people partying on a boat and a clip of aj at the end.
daniel huffed as his head fell back.
"is everything okay?" violet raised a brow.
"of course she's with him," he muttered.
"is lilli not coming?" she watched him shake his head. "oh, okay.."
"she's with that boyfriend, on a boat," he scoffed. "he must've dragged her there, she doesn't do boats."
"she said yesterday she'll be here so by the seems of it she must've forgot that the boat thing was on tonight," violet shrugged, slightly disregarding what the boy had said. "and probably didn't have a chance to text you- and i doubt she'd have much service on the water.."
"mh."
"it's okay, we can make this an impromptu date," she flashed a smile at him as he slowly nodded in agreement.
"i might go see her tomorrow.."
"okay," she supported him. "can we please focus on us tonight then now? i don't want grumpy you all because she's with her boyfriend instead.."
"yeah, sure, okay."
"thank you.."
