"What? A quirk assessment test?"
"But orientation, we're going to miss it!"
"Thankfully," you muttered under your breath, causing a few others to laugh.
"If you really want to make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." Aizawa said, not bothering to face the class. "Here at U.A. we're not tethered to traditions, that means I get to run my class however I see fit. You've been taking standardized tests most your lives, but you never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country is still trying to pretend we are all made equal by not letting those of us with the most power excel, it's not rational. One day the ministry of education will learn."
Aizawa faced the class, hands still in his pockets with an annoyed look on his face. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam, what was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in middle school?" the teacher asked. Bakugo looked puzzled, trying to figure out what his score was.
"Sixty-seven meters I think."
"Right, try doing it with your quirk. Anything goes just stay in the circle."
Bakugo stepped in the circle, stretching his arms out to make sure he didn't pull a muscle. You watched closely at your competition.
He started off with your typical baseball pitching motion. Already you knew it was going to be a good one, just based on his form. Your little brother used to play, so after a while you caught on to the whole baseball thing.
The blonde-haired boy threw the ball with a large explosion behind it, kicking up dust and dirt.
It was 705.2 meters.
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities, it's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero."
The kids in your class went on about how it looked so fun and how easy it would be, while you seemed to be the only one who noticed the cruel smile spreading across your homeroom teachers face.
"So, you think this is fun, don't you? You have three years here to become a hero, you think it's all gonna be games and play time?" Your teacher asked, sounding just like a disappointed third grade teacher.
"Well, nobody said anything like that, but go off I guess," you said under your breath, looking to the side as he continued on.
"Idiots. Today you will compete in eight physical test to gage your potential. Whoever comes in last will have none and will be expelled immediately." Your jaw dropped like a cartoon. You'd most defiantly be in last place. It was a 50/50 chance if it was serious or not. No sane teacher would do that, but this man wasn't any ordinary high school teacher.
"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs, understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now."
------
First test - 50-meter dash
There was no point in trying. Not having a quirk put you at a disadvantage, so you hoped he would take that into factor. He wasn't going to expel you, and you knew it, or at least that's what you told yourself. The odd thing was, you weren't in last place. Izuku Midoriya, a green haired, bubbly boy beat you to the bottom. You had a time of 8.2 seconds, which was pretty good considering you sucked at sprinting.
Second test - grip strength
You had a decent grip naturally, but still, you were left at a disadvantage. You came in last in this section, while a guy with multiple limbs came in first. You had to admit, it was cool seeing all these new quirks.
Third test - Standing long jump
You came in second to last. The Midoriya boy came in just a few centimeters shorter than you, but by now you had dropped to last place. Aizawa constantly eyed you from the other side of the room, trying to see what exactly you were doing. It was odd for the girl who placed second overall in the entrance exams to be in last place. You considered flipping him off, but if his threat was a bluff, he'd defiantly kick you out after that.
Fourth test - repeated sidestep
In this test you came in dead last. Not even on purpose this time. You had tripped on an untied shoelace and lost right at the start. You were going to get close to the bottom anyways, but it was a bit ridiculous how far your simple mistake set you back. Either way, you were going to end up dead last anyways, so it didn't really matter.
Final test - Ball throw
You were last up to throw the ball. Midoriya had gone just before you, throwing it a bit farther than the blonde-haired boy. Just like the green haired boy, everyone was expecting you to throw it some great distance, giving you a few extra points, even if you were still last.
Aizawa handed you the ball and you found a good grip. Some of your classmates got ready for another huge gust of wind as you winded your arm back. On the count of three, you shot the ball into the air, and everyone gasped in shock.
"72.3 meters" the small phone read. You smiled to yourself. It was a horrible score compared to your classmates, but in all honesty you didn't care. Everyone whispered to themselves, most in disbelief.
Bakugo scoffed at you as you walked past, and you shot him a dirty look. "Keep in mind, if it weren't for your quirk, you'd be eating my shit. My raw score is higher than yours, don't forget that."
"You're so fucking useless. I'd rather die than be some quirkless loser like you," he scoffed, causing you to whip your head back in his direction with yet another glare. Others began to tune in as the tension spread.
"Yeah, well at least I don't look I have hookworm." you said, pointing out the bulging vein in his forehead.
"Alright, that's it," Aizawa said. You stepped out of circle, content with your results. Aizawa knew what you were quirkless, and knew damn well that there was nothing you could do about your results. As you expected, your teacher announced it was a bluff.
Mina Ashido, the pink bubbly girl from earlier ended up coming up to you after class. She talked with you and even gave you her number. The school day went on, and countless people in your class bombarded you with questions about your quirk, or if you even had one.
Soon enough, it was time to get home, but little did you know, that was just the beginning of it all.
