"Can I take you to a moment
Where the fields are painted gold
And the trees are filled with memories
Of the feelings never told?"

Bloom - The Paper Kites (Listen to while reading)

-----

It was your first day back at school since you had gotten sick. You still hadn't moved in fully to the Bakugos house, but Mitsuki offered to take the day off from work to help bring some boxes over.

You and Katsuki walked to school as normal. The weather was warmer as the season began to shift to summer. The two of you were early to school, an hour approximately.

You had your meeting with Soumei about some big opportunity, which he still hadn't told you anything about. Katsuki took that opportunity to get an early morning workout at the school gym. You had told him that he didn't need to come early, but he insisted that he needed the workout, and your 'stupid ass' would be complaining if he didn't accompany you.

"I can't wait till it's swimming season," you said as a warm breeze blew past you.

"Yeah, can't wait," Katsuki muttered. You could hear the music playing from his one earbud but couldn't tell what song it was. Your guess was classical music, or some sort of instrumental cover of a popular song.

"You should really join me at the gym sometime. Your weak ass needs it," Katsuki laughed. You frowned, he was right, but it was still mean. You hadn't had any real physical activity since you were sick, so it felt like you lost all your progress.

"I hope you know that since I got my quirk, I could beat YOUR weak ass any time that I like," you laughed, tripping Katsuki and running down the street.

"FUCK YOU!" he yelled, chasing after you and using his quirk to propel himself forward. You tried to use your quirk in the same way with a jump, but you lacked experience and ended up shooting yourself high in the air, only to land on your back and beat yourself up, but still heal within a second.

"That's what you fucking get, asshole," Katsuki laughed. "Come on, you're wasting our time," Katsuki sighed, walking towards the school. You laughed, running in front of him and through the front gates. He didn't follow as you ran to the teacher's office for the meeting.

It was two doors to the right. You set your bag down outside the door and knocked. Aizawa said it was alright to come in, and you quickly opened the door. Soumei was in a black business suit, and Aizawa was in his regular teaching clothes.

A small stack of papers sat on the small table. You sat in a chair in front of them. The room was silent until Soumei spoke up. "Now then, I don't have much time, and I don't want to keep the two of you waiting, let's get down to business," he said, checking his watch.

"At first, I was hesitant about offering this to you, I'll admit, but I think you've really proven yourself. A few of the higher up pros, myself included, were told to accept students this year that we thought had enough dedication, and a real future. As far as I know, you're the only high school student so far being offered this, well, offer. The president of the hero education board and I would like to offer you your hero provisional license early. That means on the weekends you can get firsthand experience in the real world of heroes. It's an early start and a lot to take on, but if you're willing to accept, I would be honored to help you get a head start on the road to becoming a hero," Soumei said with a smile.

"(y/n), a part of this program means you will have a one-day extension on most homework assignments. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get them in on time, but if you get home on the weekend, and you don't have enough time to finish, let me know and I can give you the extension," Aizawa added on. The extension was defiantly a bonus, especially since you were in the middle of moving.

"I'd love to take on the offer," you said right away. There was no need to think about it, you felt ready to take it on, without hesitation.

"Great, we've been informed about your new living situation with the Bakugos, so please have one of the homeowners sign their names right here, and you can fill out the rest of the paperwork. It's just some medical information, your school information, this weekend we will go through a small run-through of an altered hero licensed exam, just to make sure the board president thinks you are fit to take on this role, and we can get started," Soumei finished, sliding the papers towards you.

"Thank you so much, both of you," you finished, shaking both their hands and running out the door to tell Katsuki the news. You slowed your pace down a bit as you made your way down the hallway. Was it really such a good idea to tell him?

You didn't know if he would be jealous of you of happy for you. His dream was to become a hero. You wanted to be one, but he wanted it more, and you had no idea how he would react if he found out you had gotten an offer and he didn't.

Thankfully, the bell rang before you had a chance to make it to the gym. He would undoubtedly ask you what the meeting was about, but you were going to hold off until you got home.

You walked into your classroom, your teacher following soon after, and the rest of the class soon after that. The second bell rang, and it was time for morning lecture to begin. Your classmates welcomed you back as Aizawa looked over a few things before getting started.

"Let's see here... Right, summer break is fast approaching, but of course, it stands to reason none of you have enough leeway to just relax for thirty." Aizawa read off the papers, getting ready to announce the big news.

"We'll be going to a summer break forest lodge."

The class buzzed with excitement. This would be a fun vacation; you were almost sure of it.

"The parameters of our activities with probably change in a natural environment, however, should any of you fall short of a passing grade for the end-of-term test, you'll be stuck in school for remediation hell."

What he had to say was unbelievable but everyday life was to carry on as usual.

(After school)

"(Y/N)! Wait up!" you heard Junichiro yell from the front door of the school. Katsuki grumbled and left. You didn't stop him though. You weren't going to let his bad attitude ruin your afternoon.

"Hey, what's up?" you asked, walking in the opposite direction of the school.

"You know, I just feel like we never get the chance to talk, so I was waiting for you at the door, but didn't see you leave," he said with a wide smile. It had been a while since the two of you talked, but that was mostly because you were sick.

"I guess it was just really crowded today. Oh yeah, there was something I wanted to mention to you. I got an offer today, from my internship. I was offered an early hero provisional license, meaning I get to start hero work early! Isn't that great!?" you yelled.

"It is!" Junichiro said with equal enthusiasm, then wrapped you in his arms in excitement. You had to admit, it caught you off guard, but you hugged back.

"Oh, I'm so sorry that was so sudden," he said, letting go.

"No, it's fine. I kind of needed that. You're actually the first person I've told, not even Katsuki, or Mina," you said, laughing it off a bit.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

His hand brushed against yours and you did the only thing that felt right in the moment.

You held it.

Undenounced to you, Katsuki had waited. And feeling his heart sink, he walked home alone.

A/N: Don't worry, I'm getting rid of this guy soon. Also, I felt super bad writing this cause he just realized his feelings and now thinks it's too late. Ugh, I'm horrible for that.
