(y/n) walked past the schools front gates, blending it with students from different classes, grades, and courses. In her mind, walking home to an empty apartment was different, and pretty scary. Just last week she had considered adopting a cat to make the apartment less lonely, but she'd be gone for most of the day, so it wasn't the best idea.
The weather was cool and crisp given it was early spring, so she kept her jacket as close as she walked down the large hill to the downtown area. Although taking the train was a possibility, she didn't bother wasting her money on a ticket when she could walk the distance with ease. And public transportation was pretty gross.
--
It took about fifteen minutes to get to the middle of the city, and another twenty to get to the road you lived on. It was two blocks away from some nice suburban neighborhood which you felt awkward walking through, so you decided to avoid it all together. But with the great lack of sleep you had, and the effort it took to walk an extra three blocks, you chose to walk through it just this once.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing here!" A voice yelled from the front yard of some house. It took a while for you to find the exact source, but your face dropped when you gazed upon the insufferable face of Katsuki Bakugo.
"I'm just walking, please, get over yourself and let me go home," you groaned, once again fastening your backpacks straps and continuing down the sidewalk. Bakugo glared at you, a rake in hand as he pushed grass waste from mowing onto a large tarp, to later transfer to a trash bag. Given the way to boy acted in school, you wouldn't have expected him to reside in a nice neighborhood.
"Well then walk faster you fucking freak," he yelled, giving you a disgusted look.
This time he just sounded annoyed rather than mad. You waved him off like a pest, taking a casual glance at your phone and then focusing on the road ahead. It was a much more peaceful reaction than you expected from him, and you weren't complaining.
Maybe it would be fun living so close to a classmate. That's why, right then and there, you made the executive decision to visit Katsuki Bakugo that night. The plan was to hop his backyard fence, scale the side of his building, and climb into his window, or knock on his front door. You know, whichever would feel more appealing at the time. However, you felt like stirring up some shit.
After thoroughly planning out your epic adventure, you climbed up the stairs to your apartment. The neighbors were fighting again, slamming doors, yelling, throwing shit, a great way to conclude the peaceful Monday afternoon.
The time was five o'clock pm. You threw a hot pocket into the microwave watched the clear plate revolve, slowing heating up the food from the outside in using its super fancy non-iodizing radiation.
You'd probably leave your house at around eight. There was no point in staying in your school uniform though, so you slipped out of it and threw on a pair of baggy sweatpants and a loose t-shirt. Nothing fancy, well, given your everyday style, this actually could be considered fancy.
Finally, after a long two minutes, you opened the microwave and grabbed the food. After sitting down on the couch, there was no point in getting up, even if you did need to put your hot pocket back into the microwave.
The only thing you considered getting was the TV remote, but even that was a grueling task to complete. Netflix sounded pretty good right now, so you ended up reaching for it, sitting back, and turned on yet another murder mystery documentary, or something like that.
Time skip
At seven o'clock you were already out the door. You didn't bother waiting the extra hour because the small apartment was suffocating, and you'd have to get out either way. Bakugo's house was a fifteen-minute walk, so you had enough time to make a phone call on your way there.
The phone rang twice, and your little brother picked up the other end. "Hey bud, how are you doing?" you asked. It had been a bit since the two of you last talked, and you missed your conversations.
Though it was fun, your conversation was cut short when you hit a dead spot, and the call cut out. A bit of static before the inevitable end of the conversation put a small frown on your face. But the scowl soon lifted when you approached the gates of the Bakugo household.
The plan was simple. You would knock on the door, praying one of his parents (who hopefully had a better attitude than their son) would open the door, and you would explain that you were Bakugo's friend, or girlfriend, whichever you chose in the moment.
You walked up the family's front door, and without a moment's hesitation, you knocked. In the mere ten seconds it took for someone to answer the door, you considered running away, and thought over every life decision that had led you to this point.
"Can I help you?" a blonde lady asked you. You stared right into her red eyes. She looked welcoming yet annoyed at the same time.
"Hi, sorry, I just came to say hi to your son, but if you're busy I can just talk to him at school tomorrow."
"Nonsense. I'll go get him. My name is Mitsuki, I'm Katsuki's mother."
You shook Mitsuki's hand, and she invited you in. Their house looked nice, or at least nice compared to yours. It was clean, and even smelled nice.
You could hear shouting from upstairs, and loud thumps. As the yelling got louder, you could tell they were nearing closer. Bakugo seemed to be making the most noise while his mother was trying to get him to the front door without wrecking the whole house.
"YOU! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!?"
"(Y/n) was it? Katsuki has offered to take you upstairs where the two of you can chat and hang out. You can stay for however long you want. A friend of Katsuki's is always welcome."
A fire was lit in Katsuki's eyes as he didn't bother to even look at you. You could tell he wanted to beat the shit out of you and throw you out of his house, but something told you he feared his mother more than he hated you. The both of you walked upstairs and into his room, where he slammed the door shut.
"Why the fuck are you in my house?" he hissed. You smiled; it was pretty funny given you couldn't take the situation seriously.
"What do you mean? I just thought I'd pay my classmate a visit. I thought I'd make the first move since you seemed to be too nervous to ask for my number."
"Get the hell out of my room before I fucking kill you!" he yelled, but not loud enough for his mother or father to hear.
You laughed, deciding it was enough, and reached for the doorknob, but paused when you heard a voice.
"Wait."
Bakugo looked over at you, arms crossed and a serious look across his face. "I have one question before you drag your shitty ass home," he muttered under his breath.
"What is it?"
"What's your quirk?" he questioned. You were confused, but soon remembered he had no clue you were quirkless.
"You'll just have to find out," you said with a laugh, walking down the stairs and out of the Bakugo household.
