You stared into the face of your worst fear, and your mother stared back. She collected herself, dusting off her shirt and straightening out her clothes. She looked different than the woman you knew before.
Thinner, tired, but what scared you the most, she looked happier. The stress lines that riddled her face before had faded, and a kinder look spread across her face. You hated it, and you hated what she had become. She didn't deserve happiness. She didn't deserve a thing
"(y/n), I-I didn't expect to run into you like this, I-" she started, but was cut off as you broke out into a complete sprint in the opposite direction. You didn't hear what she had yelled out after you, and you didn't care.
Katsuki ran after you, confused. You were going to explain the situation, but right now, all you needed to do was run. You'd probably have to face her at some point, but the later the better. Your first priority was the sports festival. That was your future, not her.
Katsuki caught up with you, and you explained what the hell that was all about. He didn't really seem shocked but did seem shocked at the same time. There was only half an hour left though, and you wanted to eat before your time was up.
"Come on, let's get some food before we have to go back. Some tonkatsu is really sounding good right about now," you finished, heading in the direction of the lunch line. Bakugo didn't say a word as usual, but soon after you met up with Mina and Kirishima who had also just gotten in line which skyrocketed your mood.

"This is kind of scary don't you think?" you asked Katsuki. The whole class was sitting in the waiting room. The last event would be 1v1 fights, like a tournament. Loser gets eliminated, and the winner gets to move on, simple as that.
It was pretty awkward in the small room, given all the war declaration that had been handed out earlier. "You're just scared because you're a quirk less loser. No one else is nervous except for you."
You looked around at your classmates, or the ones who would be fighting anyways. Midoriya nervously tapped his foot on the ground and buried his face with his hands. Mina walked around in circles, talking to herself, and Aoyama clenched his stomach as if he was going to barf.
"See, I'm not the only one who's in shambles," you retorted.
Your first match would be against Mei Hatsume. You weren't sure what class she was from, but she was the girl with all the gadgets. She had a quirk, but not one that would really help her. The first match of the day would be Shinso vs Midoriya, then Todoroki vs Sero, and then it would be your turn.
Five minutes later, Midoriya left the room. You watched the large TV on the back wall of the room. It showed both Shinso and Midoriya walking onto a stage like platform. Shinso had a mind control quirk, and if Midoriya was able to evade that, then he would be safe. If he couldn't, then Shinso would surely win.
-----
Midoriya ended up winning. Although Shinso had trapped him, Midoriya was able to free himself, and push the purple haired guy over the edge.
Sero and Todoroki were next, you wished them both good luck as they went down separate ends of the hall. Their match started almost right away. Sero lost just as quick. You gasped in amazement as Todoroki sent a thick mountain of ice, encasing Sero fully.
It was really unnecessary, but it was equally as impressive. There would be a slight break before your match because they had to get rid of all the water from the ice Todoroki had melted.
