-- Time: 1AM, morning of the sports festival
"DAMN IT!" you yelled, throwing your phone against your soft carpeted floor. The analog clock on your nightstand read 1AM, the same on your phone.
The sports festival started in twelve hours, and you couldn't get an ounce of sleep. You had spent the entire day training, big mistake.
A newly discovered problem you had been having. It was like all the energy was slowly being drained out of you. It had never happened before, but you didn't care. Probably the onset of a cold or the flu. A bad sign given you had to compete in front of the entire country, but we don't always get to choose our battles.
There was a good chance you wouldn't be falling asleep anytime soon, so you got out of bed and walked to the kitchen. Pulling the packaged turkey meat from the fridge, you looked at it in disgust.
You had read somewhere that turkey makes you tired. Something about tryptophan. You hadn't done any extensive research.
Eventually you decided against it. It would evolve brushing your teeth again, and although you couldn't fall asleep, there was no way you had enough energy to do it a second time.
-----
At around 2:36 AM, you fell asleep. This gave you just under four hours of sleep at the most.
It was good enough though, and if you had a cup of coffee in the morning, it would keep you up a bit longer.
Your phone alarm went off at 6:30 AM. You staggered out of bed at went to the bathroom to brush your hair and all that shit.
At around 6 o'clock you met Katsuki outside his house. Recently, he hadn't been caring, so you decided to keep it a regualar thing. Walking alone got kind of boring after a while.
It was a bit earlier than usual, because the school asked you to show up earlier. As usual, it didn't take long for you to get to the school, and once you arrived, your classmates filed in soon after.
Aizawa half explained what was going on, or as best as he could. He wasn't too sure himself how the whole thing would be going down. All you knew was that you would have to wear gym uniforms, and members of class 1A and B would not be allowed to use outside equipment.
This meant a normal day for you. There was no way you'd be noticed by any scouts at this rate, but that's just the way things are. You would try your hardest, and hopefully the heroes would take into account how you were at a disadvantage, but to be fair, you were always at a disadvantage.
The intercom chimmened in nearly ten minutes after his speech, giving a twenty-minute warning. Aizawa sent your class to the locker rooms to get dressed. After, you'd wait in the waiting room for the remaining time.
--
You sat in a flimsy metal chair. You couldn't tell if it was the nerves or not, but you felt mentally strained. It was like there was a huge tension pulling at your very being. Or like an internal buildup, like a blood clot for the soul, or maybe a better analagy would be indigestion for the brain.
Your arms began to shake too. They felt numb, like you couldn't move them, or your brain disconnected. For a moment, you wondered if an old case of tennis elbow had risen back up, but quickly pushed that thought back. If it really became a problem, you'd go to the doctor to deal with it.
Shortly after, Todoroki stood up and declared war on Midoriya. It was pretty weird, but you sat back and watched. It was something about how they claimed to surpass each other, but you didn't really care.
"Hey Mineta," you whispered. He looked up at you, kinda confused. Sure, he was used to harassing girls, but this was probably the first time one had ever talked to him first.
"Yeah?"
"I declare war on you," you laughed. It was pretty funny as you saw the look of confusion spread across his face.
"Ok, I declare war on you to," he said. It was little interactions like this that made you laugh and forget about your worries. You stood up and dumped him off of his chair.
Hopefully you'd pull through and make it to the final round. Whatever that was going to be.
"Everyone filed out onto the stadium lawn for opening ceremony in a neat and orderly fashion," the load speaker spoke. You sighed, got up, and pushed in your chair. It was finally time for opening ceremony, and then you'd get started with the festival.
Katsuki was supposed to have a speech planned but knowing him it would probably be really bad. He stopped you right before you entered the doors. The crowd cheered as your class lined up.
"This is it, you ready?"
"Nope, let's go," you smiled, walking onto the open field, and into the crowd of students.
