The next event would be a cavalry battle. It was a team vs team battle where you'd collect points. Everyone had a headband corresponding to how they placed in the race, and the number of points they had.
Midoriya had the highest number. You were left with 195 since you finished in fourth. It was a pretty decent place. People would want you on their team since you started off with a good number of points, but not enough to be targeted right off the bat.
It was basically a free for all when choosing the teams. It wasn't too terrible considering only the top forty-eight contestants got to compete. You chose to be the leader and go out to find team members. Your first target would be Mineta.
He wasn't the best character, but since his quirk could put people in sticky situations, literally, you chose him first. It was pretty obvious that he wouldn't be picked first amongst the crowd, and when you got to him, he was still alone.
"Hey!" You heard from behind your back. "Be on my team you fucking weirdo," Bakugo said, holding a firm grip on your shoulder. His index finger seemed to slip between your joints, sending a crawling, painful feeling down your arm.
"Watch your fucking hands!" you yelled, slapping him away.
"Don't fucking tell me what to do!" he yelled back.
"Anyways" you started, rolling your eyes. "I'm making my own team, so it's a no for me, sorry," you laughed. He made a 'tch' sound through his teeth and didn't bother begging.
In the end you obviously got Mineta on your team. He didn't even hesitate to accept your offer. "Where's Kaminari?" you asked him, looking around. You had really wanted Mina or Momo, but unfortunately, they had both secured spots on separate teams.
"You don't really want that dunce, do you?" Mineta asked.
"Oh shut the fuck up, I can kick you off this damn team if I want to."
You found Kaminari moments later, looking for a team as well. He accepted your invitation when you invited him to what you and Mineta decided to call Team Winners. You needed one more person, that's it.
"Hey, you got room for one more?" a voice said from behind your back. You smiled and nodded.
A boy named Junichiro was welcomed into your group with open arms. He was one of the participants with less points, but you knew he was gonna be a good team member, and would keep you all intact.
"What's your quirk anyways?" Kaminari asked as you submitted your team's name. As a group, you all decided on team Tsuchiya. Out of random, you were appointed the role of team leader, which you accepted.
"Well, it's a bit complicated. It's called bone manipulation, and it works just how you think it would. I can manipulate the structure of the bone, as well as heal and break bones. As a result, I was born with extra strong bones. It's a pretty cool quirk, so I decided to make use of it and become a field medic."
--
Your formation would be you in front, leading, your defense, Kaminari and Junichiro on the sides, and Mineta on top. He was small enough to be able to move around a bunch. His head was also smaller, so stealing your team's bandana wouldn't be easy. Together, you had around 560 points.
Midnight stood on the stage, getting ready to announce the start of the competition. Mineta climbed onto yours, and everyone else back, finding a stable spot.
"Alright everyone! Get ready, on your marks, get set, go!" she yelled.
You ran forward, staying away from all possible points of conflict. Junichiro explained that he can manipulate the bones of anyone he had touched within 24 hours. That means he would just have to touch someone to break every bone in their body. That's why he was on the side with Kaminari. If they get too close to your team, they'd be done for.
Your first opponents were team Shinso. They came up from behind you, but Junichiro caught on to them. Since they weren't expecting your quick and sudden rebound, you captured their headband fairly easily. Kaminari grazed Ojiro's cheek, sending a spark up his body and stalling their advancement for a short while.
Their headband was worth 165 points, bumping you up to third place. Your next target was a group of business class students. They weren't coordinated at all. Junichiro halted them in their place, stiffening their skeletal structure.
Mineta reached over and grabbed the headband before Junichiro had to release his quirk. The white-haired boy could only control a certain amount of people for a certain amount of time. Four people, trying to fight back, took about ten minutes for him to wear out.
Your points totaled out to be around 660. You got to second place after you got your next headband. The buzzer went off soon after. Team Todoroki managed to take first place after getting Midoriya's headband.
It was pretty quick, and you managed to stay out of most of the conflict. Even if you were one of the top seated teams.
They filed you out of the area for cleanup and construction before the next event. You wouldn't be told what it was until it was nearly time to compete.
Bakugo met up with you right after. His team had made it in third place, only five points behind you. Parents were able to meet their kids outside the area before they had to go back and get ready for the next event. This is also when you were supposed to have lunch.
"My dad isn't coming; do you want to go get some food?" you asked. Earlier, Katsuki had talked about his parents having to miss it because they had work. He didn't care though, not like most people.
"Yeah, sure, I don't really care," he said, shoving his hands into his pockets and looking forward.
"Oh, hold up, you have a leaf in your hair," you said, shifting around to the side to grab it. You weren't paying attention to your steps, and as a result, bumped into someone on accident. You hadn't fallen, only stumbled a bit.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sor- holy shit,"
