A 16 year old boy, Luca Harris, was unfortunately sh—

I cut the TV off as my phone rang. Zaniyah was calling me, but it wasn't a normal call. It was a call along with a series of several messages.

was the bitch dying? damn.

Before I could even pick up my phone—Javon came busting through the door abruptly, with Zaniyah.

"I know you seen me calling you!" Zaniyah yelled. This is the first time i've seen these two together in weeks—considering Zaniyah literally held him at gunpoint.

"i...did?" I said unsure if that they were doing. Zaniyah was holding a bottle of champagne and Javon had an exuberant look in his eyes.

"why do yall look like Maury said 'you are the father'?" I asked referring to their overwhelming looks of excitement.

"Adonis you didn't hear?!" Javon asked tilting his head at me. "hear what? I was watching the news and there was a school shooting if that's what you were talking about." I said trying to retrace everything from today.

"When was the last time you picked up your fucking phone?" Zaniyah asked walking over to me. "When was the last time you put yours down?" I asked back.

"don't get fucked up today." She threatened.

"what is it that you guys are busting through my door for?" I asked standing up and walking to the kitchen. They followed behind and sat the bottle of champagne on the counter.

"I can't tell if you're being serious?" Javon asked looking at me perplexed. "y'all can either tell me or i'm going back to what the hell I was doing. beating around the damn bush for no reason." I said growing agitated.

"You got nominated for 4 Grammys!" Zaniyah squealed jumping up and down.

I closed my ears for the expected loud pop that would come with the champagne bottle. "y'all interrupted my 'minding my business' session for a Grammy nomination?" I said apathetically. I don't understand why people get so hyped over an award that's chosen by a group of tasteless bias white men.

"Oh my god Adonis will you be proud of yourself for 9 seconds? Grammy's are a big deal." She replied.

"yay." I said flatly and emotionless. "you're absolutely no fun," Zaniyah said putting her hands down and going to her usual stool. "why is this such a big deal? it's just a golden cup." I expressed plainly.

"It's like the most important music award you could win. They recognize talent, REAL talent, it's not just some golden cup," Javon explained. I looked at him in thought and waited for him to continue talking.

"You know how many artists career skyrocketed after winning a Grammy? Hundreds. This could be huge for you Adonis," He explained further.

"what he said!" Zaniyah added on unnecessarily. She probably didn't understand a word he said.

I thought about what he said deeply. Maybe he's right, it could be good for my career after all. I sighed and looked at the two in annoyance. I rolled my eyes before speaking, "What're my nominations?"

Zaniyah squeaked and started pouring champagne in her glass out of excitement. Javon smiled at me brightly and did a triumphant dance.
