Finding Love

Chapter 3

Beccas POV

I scroll through my phone, picking at the now cold chips in front of me. Alora sits beside me on the bench as usual, scrolling on her phone as well.

"How does one respond to this?" She suddenly mumbles, holding her phone out for me to see.

Joshua- Happy Tuesday! Miss you ;)

I hum. "A breakup text," I tell her. She rolls her eyes while I turn back to my phone.

Alora's shitty little boy toy Joshua moved across the state at the start of summer with his mam due to his parent's divorce.

Somehow- for whatever reason, they're still together.

I don't know why Alora hasn't broken up with him yet. She doesn't like him - in fact, she forgets she's dating him half the time.

And he clearly doesn't love her as much as he claims to since he couldn't keep his dick out of his lab partner last year.

Why my strong, independent sister stays with her cheating boyfriend? I'll tell you when I finally figure it out.

"Hey."

I glance up from my phone to see Lynn and AJ walking towards us. Lynn - as usual, is smiling. AJ, as usual, isn't.

Lynn aims her smile at me before focusing on Alora. "Sorry to interrupt- just making sure we're still on after school?" She asks.

Alora nods her head. "Yep." Lynn hums. "Great. See you there then?" She says, taking a step back while AJ has already turned around to leave.

"You want to sit with us?".

Silence.

We all freeze in surprise- completely taken off guard by Alora's question.

Even fucking Alora looks surprised.

Lynn glances at AJ, while I shoot Aloea a 'what the fuck' look.

She shoots me an 'I don't fucking know' look in return, to which I scowl at.

"We'd love to" Lynn smiles, shruging her bag off her shoulder as she moves to sit on the bench opposite us.

"Lynn" AJ mutters, practically glaring at her, not at all happy at this arrangement, and not bothered to hide it.

I raise my eyebrow at him, biting my tongue to stop myself from telling him he's more than welcome to leave.

Lynn shoots him a look. "We'd love to, ain't that right AJ?" She says in a clipped tone.

A few seconds pass of their silent communication before AJ rolls his eyes and drops his bag to the floor, before taking a seat.

Lynn smiles and sits down right beside him. "So-" She places her elbows on the wooden table and leans forward. "Do you like being twins?".

We both grimace.

I love Alora.

She's my best friend.

But I would have been fine with being just sisters.

Lynn laughs at our reaction but doesn't say anything else on the subject.

"Just to...end the confusion" Alora mumbles. "You two are together right?" She asks the question I too was beginning to wonder.

AJ grimaces immediately, while Lynn takes it a step further and gags.

"Oh god no- ew," She visibly shudders in disgust. AJ rolls his eyes at her. "We're friends" He mumbles.

"My brother from another mother" Lynn grins, nudging his side with her elbow.
