Becca's POV
I wake up to someone gently rubbing my side.
Squinting a bit, it takes me a few seconds to register the fact my head isn't resting on my pillow, but rather on someone's chest.
AJ.
His arm is around me, and his hand is slipped under my shirt, gently caressing the skin on my side.
Lifting my head off his chest, I look up, seeing him staring at the ceiling.
He doesn't notice I'm looking at him.
His hand is moving mindlessly.
The bedside lamp is turned on, which is the only reason I can see him right now.
The alarm clock reads four am.
"AJ?" I whisper, placing my hand on his chest. He flinches slightly, before looking at me, blinking a bit.
He then frowns. "Why are you up?" He whispers, and I stare at him in disbelief.
"Why are you up?- Why is your hair wet?" I shoot him a confused look as I quickly sit up, noticing his hair is all damp.
"I had a shower," He says it likes it's normal to take showers at four in the morning.
I'm sitting on my heels, facing him. He sits up as well, closing the gap between us.
Frowning, I run my hand through his hair. "Do you normally shower during the night?" I ask him, wondering if this is normal behaviour for him or if something is wrong.
Stupid- because I know someone is wrong.
AJ loves to sleep more than anyone. Hell- how many times have I walked into his room just to find him passed out on his bed at two in the afternoon?
Something is wrong if he's awake right now.
AJ stares at me, a faraway look in his eyes.
It's been exactly six days since AJ woke up, and so far, he's been doing okay. Although this isn't the first time I've noticed the distant look in his eyes.
"You should sleep" He then whispers, and I shake my head. He sighs, moving his arms around me and drawing me closer. I move to sit on his lap, straddling him. "You're tired," He says simply.
"Don't tell me what I am" I mutter, studying him up and down. Is he in pain? Is that why he's awake right now?
AJ chuckles, reaching a hand up and gently caressing my cheek with the back of his knuckles. "You're very beautiful, you know that?" He whispers.
I try my best to glare at him, positive he said that just to distract me. But despite my best efforts, I melt like the pathetic person he's turned me into. I fight my smile. "Stop it. Tell me whats wrong".
He sighs, moving to lean back on his elbows. He stares at me for a minute, before he opens his mouth to speak. He then shakes his head, glancing away and swallowing hard.
Just as I go to speak, I notice the white bandage on his neck.
I stare at it confused, and I reach out to touch it. AJ grabs my wrist, stopping me. He looks a bit nervous.
I narrow my eyes at him. "Let my wrist go" I tell him, and he winces before listening. "Don't freak out" He mumbles.
Without another word, I grab the edge of the bandage and gently peel it back.
I stare at the fresh cut on his neck.
The Arrow tattoo they put on him is now gone.
He cut it off.
