Alora's POV
I nervously walk inside the garage, not entirely sure where I'm going.
Or what I'm doing.
I hear music blasting from... somewhere. Yet no sight of Lynn. I know she's here since she always works Saturday evenings.
"Can I help you, darling?".
I glance to the side, seeing a man who looks to be in his late fifties cleaning down the surface of a counter while looking at me curiously.
"I'm looking for Lynn," I tell him, unsure if he's going to help me or not. He hums, looking at me suspiciously. "What do you need her for?".
"I'm a friend," I tell him, and he sighs, nodding his head to the left. "She's in the back," He says before turning his full attention back to the counter he's cleaning.
Nodding to myself, I slowly walk down the hallway to the left, which leads to an open garage.
I see parts and tools I don't know the names of everywhere. There are dozens of tyres lying all over the place, but my attention goes to the girl bent over the hood of an old car, doing..something.
She's in dark grey cargos, which are different from her usual ones. These look old and have a few black stains on them, I'm guessing are from oil.
She's wearing a white shirt, and her hair is up in a ponytail like usual.
"Lynn.." I mumble, making my presence known before I overthink it and leave.
She pauses, seeming to go still before she lets out a sigh. Standing up straight, she grabs a rag and wipes her hands as she turns, shooting me a look. "What are you doing here, Alora?" She mutters.
She tosses the rag onto a small table beside her before crossing her arms over her chest as she waits for my answer.
"Me and Joshua broke up." I blurt out, not sure how to do this. Lynn's eyes widen a bit before she nods her head. "Sorry, I guess."
"I um.. I broke it off. It was...very long overdue, " I mumble.
I did it over text. I figured he didn't deserve a face-to-face break-up. Plus, I didn't know his address.
He asked if it was because I heard about the girls he was with over the summer.
This break-up was long overdue.
Lynn watches me closely as I take a small step closer to her. There's around three meters of space between us, and I feel so far away.
"I wanted to apologise," I tell her honestly. "I really didn't intend to hurt you I...I know I told you he was my friend. I don't know why I even said that - I guess a part of me knew what I was doing was wrong, " I whisper, not sure if I'm saying the right thing or not.
"Please trust me when I say I never intended to hurt you- and if there's anything I can do to make you forgive me, please tell me" I blurt, well aware this is a shit apology but I don't know what else to say to her.
She just stares at me for a few seconds. "Why are you here, Alora?" She asks quietly.
I take another small step forward.
"To see you," I tell her. "To apologise for being a shitty person. To tell you -" I stop myself, dropping my eyes to the floor as I feel the nerve getting to me.
How do I say this?
"Tell me what, Alora?" I hear Lynn ask, and I take a breath, staring at the floor as I try to build up the courage to confess.
