Aloras POV

Me and Becca are sitting at our usual bench outside when Lynn and AJ come join us.

Lynn sits beside me, while AJ sits beside Beccas opposite us.

Like usual.

I'm not entirely sure when this became our usual.

AJ mumbles something, and whatever he says causes Becca's lips to pull up into a small smile. She tries to hide it by glancing down at her food, but AJ notices regardless.

Whatever mood he was in when he sat down disappears, and his eyes soften on her.

I smile, looking away and move my attention to the girl who sits beside me. She's currently rummaging in her bag for something.

"What are you looking for?" I chuckle at her, and she flashes me a grin. "Something I stole off a wall".

I blink, taken aback while she continues to search for...whatever it is that she stole.

"Found it!" She cheers, drawing AJ and Becca's attention as well.

"Guess what I found on my way here" She smiles, pulling out a small flyer, and holds it out for us all to read.

"A winter dance" Becca reads aloud. This immediately grabs my attention, and I grab the flyer to read it properly while AJ groans loudly.

"A fucking dance? Seriously?" He mutters, and I drone out whatever teasing response Lynn told him as I read the flyer.

On the twenty-eight of January, in some venue with a fancy name. Dates allowed.

"We're going, Becca. No buts" I tell her, before she can even think of protesting. Becca just smiles at me. "Alright".

"I assume two are?" I turn to Lynn and AJ. That was a lie. I assume Lynn is. Judging by AJ's reaction to the dance, I'm guessing he'll stay at home.

Lynn glances at AJ with hope in her eyes, and he sighs and nods his head. Her excitement returns full force as she grins. "We're going".

I force a small smile as I stare at AJ, whose attention is on his phone.

I keep noticing this little pattern.

Every time Lynn wants to go somewhere, she has to ask AJ first. And it's confusing, not to mention weird as fuck.

I've started to like AJ. I've grown used to his grumpy moods, which usually don't last long in the presence of my sister.

But something weird is going on. And I start to wonder if he is controlling of Lynn in private or some shit.

Just then, a phone- my phone rings.

Everyone glances at me, and I grab my phone to see who's ringing me.

Joshua.

I stare at my screen, confused as fuck. Who the fuck is-

I freeze, my eyes widening when I remember who Joshua is.

Cursing, I jump up. "Gotta take this" I mumble, not sparing anyone a glance as I rush off.

I answer once I've put enough distance between me and the others.

"Alora! Baby hi!" Joshua's voice calls out, sounding cheery.

But not cheery like Lynn.

He's the type of person who drains your energy after a while. While Lynn is the type to give it.

"Thank god you answered. My phone broke- and there's hardly any fucking service out here half the time".

I clear my throat. "Hey," I say weakly, not sure what to say.
