Finding Love

Chapter 36

Aloras POV

I quietly eat my food, watching with amusement as Becca scowls at AJ from across the table.

AJ doesn't seem bothered by it in the slightest. In fact- with his arms crossed over his chest, he stares at my sister with an expression close to mine; amusement.

A hand is suddenly placed on my shoulder, and I feel someone lean in close, their breath gently fanning my neck.

"Hey," Lynn whispers, letting me know it's her right before I was about to rip her hand off me.

I relax immediately at the sound of her voice, and I think I fucking melt when she stretches further and places a kiss on my cheek.

I turn my head to face her just as she sits down on the bench beside me, already smiling. "Must you sneak up on me?" I ask her.

She hums in response, nudging me with her elbow. "Because it's fun".

I playfully roll my eyes, bringing my focus back to the food in front of me. I try to hide my smile.

Things have been good.

I thought it might get awkward after I showed up at her apartment in tears, but no, it never was.

Honestly, ever since that day at the garage two weeks ago, things have been..well, better than good.

"Trouble in paradise already?" Lynn asks, taking notice of Becca's scowl directed at AJ from across our picnic bench.

Lynn's voice seems to burst whatever fucking bubble they were living in, and they remember they're not alone.

On cue, they both roll their eyes. "She's still going on about the present I got her" AJ waves off, causing Becca to glare at him.

Lynn snorts, while I don't bother to hold back my laugh. AJ committed the awful act of getting Becca a small gift for our birthday. And since he never told her about his- which was on Christmas apparently, she's mad he got her a gift when she wasn't able to do the same.

"Fuck you all" Becca scoffs, before standing up and walking off.

AJ smiles largely at her, and without a word he's up and following her, leaving without a word.

"Well, he turned around pretty quickly" I comment, watching them go. It feels like only a month ago, he rejected Becca without a reason- oh wait, it was only a month ago.

I sigh to myself since I've been told by my dear sister I'm not allowed still be mad at him. Especially since I hurt Lynn.

Something I still feel guilty for.

"Is that how we look?" Lynn winces, her reaction different from mine as she also watches them disappear inside the school.

I wince, and we go silent for a second before I shake my head. "Of course not. We probably look hotter" I assure her.

She nods. "Definitely". She then shoves her hand in the pocket of her hoodie and pulls out a packet of M&Ms.

She tosses them to me, and I catch them, smiling largely at her. She laughs at my reaction.

Ignoring her, I rip open the bag and offer them to her, wanting to share.

Lynn smiles at me as she takes one. "What did you get in the history test?" I ask her since I forgot to ask her yesterday in class.

Lynn winces. "What did you get?" She directs the question back to me as she tosses the M&M in her mouth.

"Eighty-four.." I say slowly, watching her curious. She nods her head for a few seconds, thinking.
