Alora's POV

I roll my eyes at Becca and her dramatics.

On the chair beside me, my sister sits with her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes glaring at the clock.

We're at the school library, waiting for Lynn and AJ to come so we can work on our projects.

They're ten minutes late.

And Becca, similar to our father, has a thing for punctuality.

All I'll say is poor AJ because she's in a shit mood.

Whatever common ground they found over the last few days is about to disappear.

This is our third time meeting up to work on this stupid project.

We were unable to meet up on Wednesday since me and Becca were busy. And yesterday, they had work.

Today is Friday- and the project is due Monday.

Becca may have a thing for punctuality, but I have a thing for handing my assignments in on time. So, to say I'm a little stressed wouldn't be a lie.

We either have to get it finished today or meet up on the weekend. I don't want to do the latter, so let's hope they show up soon so we can get this done.

Becca huffs from beside me. "We should-" "Relax?" I suggest. "Great idea, Becca," I whisper teasingly, making her roll her eyes.

Maybe I would be more pissed if I wasn't somewhat friends with Lynn.

I was pissed at first to work with her. After all, we were the only ones in the class who didn't get to choose their partners.

I think I lasted a solid five minutes before she managed to make me smile despite my best efforts not to. And after that- I couldn't stop.

The doors to the library then open, and in comes Lynn and AJ, with the principal walking in behind them.

Lynn smiles at us as they walk over, not at all bothered by the two scowling men beside her.

"You stay here for the next hour," Mr Martin, the principal, scowls when they stop at our table.

AJ scoffs, rolling his eyes as he crosses his arms over his chest.

"Got something to say, AJ?" The principal snaps, and AJ turns to face him. "A lot actually-"

Lynn grabs his arm, shooting him a look. "But we're not going to say it," She tells him slowly.

"Because dragging out this conversation any longer may cause the third party to slam her head into a wall," She tells him, flashing him a smile. He rolls his eyes while the principal just storms out of the library.

I watch them amused. "What did you do?" I ask, curious as to what they did to get an escort from the principal.

Lynn sighs, flashing me a small smile. "I committed an awful crime...".

She places her hands on the back of the chair opposite me on the table, leaning forward as she gasps dramatically. "Showed my bare shoulders," Lynn whispers.

Only then do I notice the grey zip-up hoodie she's wearing is too big for her. The sleeves are rolled up to her elbows, but it goes down to her thigh.

I look at AJ, noticing he is just in a white shirt. He's scowling as usual, only this time it's justified.

"Sorry we're late," Lynn chuckles as she pulls out the seat in front of her and sits down opposite me on the small circular table.

"AJ got into an argument with him-" She rolls her eyes and waves it off. "I stopped listening after three minutes."
