I woke with a start when I heard a chirping noise right in my ear. Anwen!
I rubbed my eyes and sighed, turning to face whatever had woken me up.
It was a robin and a sparrow, both sat on the arm of the chair I had fallen asleep in. I grinned. "What are you guys doing here?"
The sparrow hopped onto the table and chirped again. We wanted to congratulate you for your quest, tell you we need to catch you up on a lot of stuff and to tell you there's a meeting started two minutes ago to discuss you quest.
I blinked as my half-asleep brain tried to process what I'd just heard. "Oh, my gods! Why didn't you guys get me sooner?"
I leapt up from the chair. My clothes were still partially wet from the rain last night and my hair was frizzy and had a few leaves stuck in it. "I hate this." I grumbled.
I ran to a small hole in the wall that had some spare clothes shoved haphazardly in it and grabbed a new hoodie and pair of trousers.
I tugged off my wet clothes with some difficulty and grabbed a small towel to dry myself off completely.
I ran back into the room still tugging my hoodie on over a T-shirt. "Thank guys!" I called.
Bye, Anwen! The birds flew back out of the cave entrance.
I ran out of the cave entrance and through the forest while trying to pull leaves out of my hair and avoid tripping over tree roots.
By the time I got to the Big House I thought I was going to collapse. I stopped outside the door and gasped for breath.
I collapsed to the floor and lay on my back, breathing heavily. "I. Hate. Running." I huffed.
Hello Anwen.
I sat up quickly and spun around, causing a sharp pain to form in my neck. "Hoots you made me crick my neck." I groaned.
Hoots ignored me and nudged me towards the door.
I crossed my arms and lay back down. "You're going to have to drag me in there. I look terrible, I've just run here and I can't breathe." I inhaled loudly to emphasise my point but ended up in a coughing fit.
I rolled over so I lay on my stomach, face-down on the porch.
Why did you run here if you aren't even going to go in?
"Well, I was going to go in, then I changed my mind while running but my body kept running because... because I don't know. I just kept running."
Hoots let out a huff and used his wing to slam open the door.
"Hello Anwen. How nice of you to join us." A voice called.
I raised a hand to wave but remained on the floor. "Hi, Chiron."
Hoots took hold of the back of my hoodie and dragged me into the room before dropping me next to my seat.
I sat up and faced the owl, letting out a chirping noise and tilting my head. You could've just left me out there, you know that right? I wouldn't have missed much.
Chiron coughed. "Anwen, I got mini cheddars so you would pay attention in this meeting."
I scrambled into my seat and glanced around. Everyone was staring at me in confusion. I glanced to the side and noticed Leo looking like he was about to burst out laughing. I caught his eye and had to look away to avoid laughing. I exhaled slowly and cracked a smile. "Alright. I'm here. Chiron, my good friend, please may I have my mini cheddars?"
