I sat on one of the worktables as I watched Leo begin attaching the wings. I wouldn't be much help; I had no idea what half the tools he was using were. We chatted here and there but for the most part I simply waited while he worked. As usual, I got bored.
"I'm bored." I said sliding off the table and lying on the floor dramatically. Leo snorted.
"What am I supposed to do about that?" He said, turning away from the dragon to look at me in amusement.
"I don't know." I whined. "None of the stuff in here is my kind of thing." I said. "Last time someone tried to explain this stuff to me, I lost focus within seconds." Leo raised an eyebrow. "No offense."
"None taken." He said, turning back to the dragon. "Why don't you try and sleep, it is pretty late."
"Maybe later." I said. "I'm not tired yet." He shrugged.
"Wanna talk?"
"Sure."
Silence followed. I snorted. "What are we supposed to talk about?" I asked. Then I had an idea. "Actually," I began. Leo turned.
"Actually what?" He asked.
"Why don't you tell me why you haven't told anyone you're a fire-user?"
Leo hesitated. "Well, as soon as I asked about the whole 'fire-user' thing, I was told that we were considered bad luck. That every time a fire-user appears something terrible happens."
I squinted at him. "I'm going to let that answer slide." I said, suspiciously. I could tell he was lying, not about being told that. I knew the Hephaestus cabin were very sure in their beliefs about fire-users. But the way he hesitated told me there was something else. Something personal.
"Ok? Why don't you tell me about your powers?" He said.
I looked down. "I haven't really used my powers since my dad died."
He stared at me. "But I thought your dad was your godly parent?" I nodded. "Wait, so how did he die?"
I sighed. "You know that my dad was Pan, don't you?" He nodded. "Well Pan is the god of the wild. And since most wild places are being destroyed due to human activity, he lost most of his power. And then he just... faded."
Leo stared. "Oh."
"I could still use my powers; it just... doesn't feel right." I said. "I mean sometimes I can't help it, part of it is understanding animals, and if they talk to me, I can't just go deaf temporarily, so..." I trailed off.
"That's fair, sorry for asking."
"It's fine," I said. "I didn't really know him anyway; you know how gods prefer not to interact with their kids." He nodded.
"This is a really deep conversation to have with someone I just met," he said. I snorted.
"Tell me about it." I said.
We sat in silence for a while before I spoke again. "I'm gonna go to sleep now." He nodded and continued working on the dragon. Soon I drifted off.
Hi. I know I said it would be a while before I updated but 1: this is a short sort of bonus chapter and is just supposed to be like Leo and Anwen's first proper interaction. 2: I have no social life and therefore nothing better to do. It's a sad truth.
On the bright side I'm having quite a lot of fun writing this despite the fact that it's highly unlikely anyone will read it.
Also I know that the chapter names are pretty bad, I'm just not very good at this sort of thing yet.
I hope your having a good day and you enjoyed my short chapter.
I might write another chapter today I'm not sure, I think the only reason I'm writing a bunch is because I get bored of a story and don't want to keep reading a lot of the time if it's only like one chapter. I just want to show how the book is likely to go. Although I'm probably going to improve while writing, at least I hope so. Please stick around. I'll try to make sure the chapters are entertaining.
Bye from Corgi
P.S. I've decided I will be doing this for the rest of the book. All characters (apart from Anwen) belong to Rick Riordan, this is merely a fanfiction based off the Heroes of Olympus series.
