Stay Strong Seventeen

Vernon

Vernon was laying down on his bed with an uncomfortable look on his face. Joshua walked by, the two were sharing the room

"Still in pain?" The older asked and Vernon nodded.
Joshua sat down near him a bit worried, Vernon has been having this stomachache since yesterday afternoon. He skipped dinner and again skipped breakfast that morning
"I don't understand really, we ate together and no one has a stomachache"

"I'm glad" Vernon said with a small smile and Joshua softened even more "Are you sure you don't want to go see a doctor?"

"I already took some medicine from our managers I'll just wait for a bit"

"You will join the interview?"

"Of course, I'll be fine don't worry"

Joshua sighed and nodded, they were getting ready for an interview in about an hour and he was worried that Vernon might get worse. To his luck, Vernon did great during the interview but he knew that Vernon was still feeling uncomfortable.

It wasn't until that same afternoon when they finally got back to the hotel. Vernon took a quick shower and changed into something comfortable. Joshua offered him something to eat since he didn't eat anything since yesterday's lunch but Vernon kept rejecting it, all he had was a box of juice and water to keep hydration.

He laid down with a painful sigh, a hand resting over his temples while the other over his tummy.
He closed his eyes trying to get some sleep and maybe this stomachache will go away.
The more he laid there without a single move, the more he felt himself get sunken into the sheets of his bed.

He almost unconsciously felt the mattress dip next to him and Joshua's voice talking to him from a distance as if it was almost muffled.
"Vernon are you feeling okay?" Joshua called the younger softly seeing the way he barely moved from where he was laying down and the way his face was quickly getting paler

"Are you sleeping?" He asked again before reaching over to him gently removing his hand from his temples to notice the really uncomfortable look painted over his face and the droplets of sweat over his forehead

"Vernon?" He called again with a frown but got nothing but a soft hum in return, he hurried to press his palm over the boy's face and Vernon seemed to be getting warmer than usual.
Worried, Joshua tried to wake him up but Vernon seemed to be a little too tired to respond and Joshua grew even more worried.
He grabbed his phone to call Seungcheol and told him that Vernon wasn't feeling so well. He tried to talk to him and see if he could make him feel a bit better until the leader arrived.

"Ver? Where does it hurt exactly, will you show me please?"

Vernon tried to sit up but soon slumped back down on the pillow "I'm really d-dizzy" he tried to explain "I ..." he motioned in the air with his hands "I think I'm ..."
Joshua was smart enough to know what that meant, he run to get the trash bin closer to Vernon helping him sit up and the next thing, he was retching and vomiting badly for a few minutes.
Joshua was by his side until he was done and grabbed him a bottle of water. Vernon was thankful and happily took a few sips feeling it calm down his throat.

"Better now?" Joshua asked but Vernon didn't say anything in return, he actually wasn't so sure if he was feeling better or not but simply that he was too tired now than he was before. He laid back down on the bed feeling cold and chills down his spine, Joshua brushed his hair and covered him tightly and soon run to open the door to Seungcheol.

Vernon heard them talking their way in but wasn't so sure what they were talking about. Other voices were there as well, Jeonghan? Mingyu? Je was too tired to catch up on them and too dizzy to open his eyes and check.

He was shivering slightly, Jeonghan noticed and covered him up even tighter.
"He's warm, is it a bug of some kind?"

"I'm not sure" Joshua replied and only watched as Jeonghan shook Vernon gently trying to get something out of him
"Ver? Baby how bad is it?"

It didn't really matter how bad it was because Seungcheol was already on his phone calling their manager and asking for a doctor right there and then.

Vernon squirmed a little, he didn't want to move and feared he would throw up again "It hurts" he managed to mumbled "I'm really dizzy" and it made all of them panic hearing how weak his voice was.
Jeonghan tightly held his hand and reassured him that everything's going to be fine and that he should be resting for now.

Vernon doesn't remember much after that, he woke up to a stinging sensation over his right forearm, he tried to look around only to see a guy in a white coat hovering on top of him. He also saw Seungcheol and Joshua near by and he felt safer with them around.
He doesn't know for how long he's been sleeping but when he woke up, it was almost dawn time.
He slept for an entire afternoon and whole night? He startled himself trying to move and a sharp sting made him hiss. He looked down and he was hooked up to an IV drips and some yellow looking saline bag.

With a foggy mind he tried to put two and two together and realized that he probably fainted from whatever stomach bug he caught and Joshua, Seungcheol and Jeonghan took care of him which he was forever grateful.

He tried to look around and everything seemed quiet and the room rather cold much to his liking because he felt his own body on fire and simply clammy and sweaty all over.
He closed his eyes again trying to find his strength and energy which wasn't at all present at the time, his head was throbbing but luckily the uncomfortable bulldozer of a feeling that was sitting on top of his stomach was mostly gone. Whatever they gave him worked at least for now.

He the door slowly being opened and he immediately gave it his attention. Jeonghan peeked in and he was only intending to check on Vernon but when he found him awake, he sprinted to his side.

"Hey" he greeted the sick boy, Vernon smiled a little "How are you feeling?"

Vernon tried to sit up only to be pushed down by Jeonghan "Don't you need to rest"

"What happened?" Vernon asked genuinely clueless

"You had a minor case of food poisoning, they gave you antibiotics and a lot of fluids, you should be resting"

"I don't even know what caused it though"

Jeonghan sighed "Yeah, we couldn't either there must be something you ate that didn't quite sit with you"

Vernon nodded "I'm just uncomfortable all over"

Jeonghan placed a hand over Vernon's forehead "Your fever isn't as bad either" he smiled feeling relieved "They have you scheduled for an appointment in the clinic in the morning you should rest until then"

Vernon nodded "I literally can't do anything else"

Jeonghan chuckled "Do you need anything? Can I get you anything?"

"Water please?"

"Sure" Jeonghan run across the room to give him a bottle of water and helped Vernon take a few sips. Laying back down he felt chills all over his body and Jeonghan wasted no time to tuck him tighter "I'll be here if you need anything okay?" Jeonghan simply occupied the small arm chair near Vernon's bed and watched over the boy as he went back to sleep.
