Chapter 6

Inpu's POV

As much as I really wanted to bring Bryan out with me today, fate had other plans.

Being a jackal demon came with its pros, such as better hearing, but it also did have some cons that I hated dealing with.

One of them mainly being extra senses and protectiveness with my lover, and since Bryan barely left my side at home, it wasn't helping me much

Granted, I hadn't told him about it, so he wasn't going to separate on his own, which caused me to force myself to be calm most of the day.

Bryan was just sitting next to me on the couch, reading a book out loud since he said it was one he always wanted to read and I didn't mind listening to a book, especially since it was my lover's voice reading it.

I was slowly closing my eyes which I noticed was how I showed that I wanted something, and unfortunately for me, Bryan began to notice that.

"I'm guessing you're thinking about dinner?"

"What makes you say that?"

"Your eyes are closing and your ears are pointing, you normally do that when you begin to think about what you want to eat, unless you have something else on your mind"

"And what if I do?"

Bryan didn't respond right away, he just quickly put a bookmark in his book followed by him kissing me.

"Well, I'm open to listen"

"Its nothing you need to worry about, just annoying demon stuff"

"What kind of annoying demon stuff?"

"The makes me want to pin you in bed and do stuff type"

He blushed heavily before putting his face in his hands while I slightly laughed.

"You know I won't act on anything, why do you keep freaking out about this kind of stuff?"

"Because you are my first real relationship and while I want you to touch around my body, I'm not ready for the full thing"

"That's new for you to bring up, what made you start thinking those thoughts?"

He looked away and mumbled something which I was surprised I couldn't hear, but I watched his face turn even more red.

"Mind repeating that, gem?"

"I may or may not have caught myself grinding on you while you slept the other night and I have no idea why"

"Damn, I knew my powers were strong but not that strong"

"What do you mean?"

"Part of my magic is changing people's mood without doing anything and from what I've been told from my dad, it can make a lover go from a calm mood to frisky in seconds, which is probably why you caught yourself doing it unknowingly"

"So its your fault"

"Yeah, yeah, but if you want to try part of it, I can do it and we go at your pace"

"If we do it, what will it do to both of us?"

"You get a feeling on what part of intercourse is like and my jackal abilities calm down for the next few months"

He glanced down, clearly thinking, which made me worry that he was considering it because of my constant jokes, which I didn't want to be the case.

"You don't have to say yes, I want you to be comfortable"

Bryan raised his head a bit before moving so he was sitting on my lap.

Once he got himself comfortable, he pressed his head on my chest, which he did when he wanted to feel comfortable, before he grabbed my hands and put them under his shirt.

I just let him adjust to how he wanted to be felt, which ended with one hand at the base of his wings and the other was closer to his neither region.

Not wanting to overstep and make him uncomfortable, I didn't move at all, but I didn't need to since Bryan began to soften to my touch.

"You're actually comfortable like this?"

"Yup, you make me safe, and I know how to make myself comfortable on you"

"I'm glad, do you want to stay here or do you want me to move you? I need to shower tonight because I have a meeting tomorrow"

"Am I going to that one? I know you said you'd take me today then you had a change of plans, so is that going to be my first outing with you?"

"I'd be lying if I said yes without any hesitation, but unless something comes up, I plan to bring you with me, now do you want to move or no?"

"Yes, just put me in bed, I'll be comfortable there"

I quickly picked him up and brought him to our room.

I placed him on the bed and quickly went to take a shower so I could head to bed.

While I was in the middle of showering, I heard a strange noise followed by a startled sound coming from Bryan.

"You ok, gem?"

"Yeah, hey dumb question, I'm meant to get my power the night we get married, right?"

"Correct"

"And it fully settles for me after we sleep together, right?"

"Right again"

"Then how come I just managed to shoot a ray of light?"

"Come again?"

"How did I just shoot a ray of light?"

I just sighed since I didn't fully know what to do or how to respond.

"Just sit tight, we'll figure it out once I get out"

Not long after, I got out of the shower and just put a pair of boxers and sweatpants on and went out to see Bryan just staring at the carpet where there was a small burn mark.

"Ok, so this is new to me"

"You mean to tell me you have no idea what's wrong?"

"Unfortunately, yes, I guess I'm taking you with me regardless tomorrow"

"What do you mean?"

"Demons don't exactly get sick, but the few demons who end up becoming doctors need to learn about sicknesses for sacrifices and learn about random magic sparks for reasons like this, so after my meeting tomorrow, I'll find a doctor so we can figure out what this is"

"Then what do I do in the mean time, I've never had this happen before, what if it goes off while you're in your meeting, what happens if something else comes up, what if-"

"Bryan, calm down, I'm not going to let anything bad happen"

"I don't want to hurt you because it goes off in the middle of the night, I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself"

"As much as I really don't want to do this, I can use my magic and create a sort of blocker to prevent you from accidently doing anything, the only reason I don't want to is because it'll burn"

"Please, just do it, I don't care how much it hurts, I don't want to hurt you"

I planned to ask him if he was sure, but the fear in his eyes told me he was sure, so I ended but sitting next to him and wrapped myself around him since I knew he was going to be in pain.

After I let him adjust so he could lean into me if he needed, I grabbed his wrists and started to recite a small chant to create the blocker.

Bryan began to let out small whimpers and I felt him pressing his body onto me to try and get some support for the pain.

"You're doing great, gem, I know its not comfortable"

It took a good amount of my power to fully create the blocker, so it took a bit of time for it to finish, and I just felt bad for him.

Once I finished creating the blocker, I felt Bryan go from stiff from the pain, to nearly limp in relief.

"Are you ok?"

He didn't respond, he just kept snuggling up to me, and I didn't blame him for it.

After a while, I finally laid down in bed and held him close as we both fell asleep.
