Chapter 13

Bryan's POV

Despite my constant begging the past few days, Inpu had informed me that I would have to speak with his father when he visited the house today.

I was regretting not asking more, but this time I had a plan on how to hide when his parents came over.

My idea was to just hide out in our room while Inpu's parents were in the house, but as expected, Inpu thought of that and managed to lock me out of the room while we were eating breakfast.

His parents arrived not long after we ate, so I stayed behind Inpu while we greeted them before I snuck into the kitchen to hide out since it was my best bet.

One of the maids saw me sit at the table they had in the kitchen, so she placed down something for me to drink before sitting next to me so I had someone to talk to.

"Let me guess, trying to avoid Anubis"

"How could you tell?"

"You're practically glued to Inpu unless something is up, and considering today is a visit day, its pretty easy to tell what's up"

"I guess you have a point, I just don't understand why I need to interact with him, so I'm going to try and hide here since Inpu locked me out of our room"

"Want one of us to unlock it for you?"

"You can do that?"

"Yeah, we each have keys to every lock in the house, I can walk you over if you wish"

"Yes please, I really don't want to deal with this today"

The maid nodded before taking off her apron and walking me to my room before I even had the chance to interact with Inpu's parents.

Once I was in my room, I just sat back down in the bed, really just trying to get comfortable before anyone came in.

I spent a good part of the day in the bedroom just watching tv, but right before I passed out to take a nap, I heard yelling from the other room, but the issue was I couldn't tell who was yelling.

Not wanting to get in the middle of an argument, I just wrapped a blanket around me and tried to stay somewhere I couldn't easily be found.

After a few minutes, I thought it was all calmed down, but then I heard my name get yelled, so to avoid issues, I just went over to where all of them were.

When I got to the living room where each of them were, both Inpu and Anubis were in their full demon forms, Izanami was hiding close by but in the hallway so she was out of the way, and then there was me just standing in the door way awaiting whatever was coming.

"Good, you're here, I need you to answer a few stupid questions my father thinks need to be asked" [Inpu]

"Um...what is exactly going on?" [Bryan]

Before anyone said anything else Anubis walked over to me before smacking me to the ground and yelling at me for talking.

I just looked at him and all I could see while he was telling me off was a cult priest who always told us off by yelling at us and hitting us.

As the panic set in I felt myself begin to move near the way before I curled up.

All I felt was myself shaking for a while as all the sounds just started to disappear, this time just felt painful instead of the normal fear I felt.

I wasn't sure how long I was left on the ground before anyone did anything, all I know what that when I finally calmed down, I was still on the ground, but Inpu was in front of me making sure I couldn't see his parents while I was calming down.

He lifted me up not long after and moved me so I was on the couch under a blanket so I could relax.

Inpu was clearly looking for something to help me, but I couldn't help but overhear Anubis repeatedly ask Inpu what my "issue" was.

Eventually, Inpu grabbed some kind of pin before he put some lavender oil in it before he handed it to me.

"Alright, you did whatever you needed to do to him, now what is his damn issue" [Anubis]

"What is his issue? WHAT IS HIS ISSUE?! YOUR FUCKING CULT TRAUMATIZED HIM, YOU EXPECT HIM TO BE COMPLETELY FINE?!?!" [Inpu]

"If your mother came out fine, he should be to" [Anubis]

"Mom wasn't raised in the cult and used as an experiment, I've seen first hand the religious trauma the cult gave him, and you know what, if you refuse to see that my fiancée needs a bit more attention cause of that, I don't want you at my wedding" [Inpu]

"Anubis, he might be right, it is pretty clear that Bryan isn't exactly emotionally healthy" [Izanami]

"So? I don't see why my son feels the need to keep me out of an important moment" [Anubis]

"I don't want him uncomfortable on a day that he is meant to feel happy, I've barely had him smile the entire time he's been here when bringing up the topic of the cult or anything similar, I don't need you messing up his recovery" [Inpu]

"What are you saying then?" [Anubis]

"What I'm saying is I want nothing to do with you if you choose to insult my fiancée to the point he has a panic attack" [Inpu]

Anubis clearly wanted to say something, but Izanami moved over and gently pulled his sleeve saying that the two of them should probably go.

The two of them left soon after and Inpu quickly turned his attention to me.

"Are you doing ok?"

"I could be better, you see why I was trying to avoid you the entire day?"

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that, had I known that's the first thing he'd do when he heard your voice, I would've locked you in the bedroom the entire day just so he couldn't see you even if he tried"

"You didn't know it would happen, its ok"

"No its not, I didn't listen to your wishes, you begged me the past few days to not let you be in the same room with him and look what happened when I didn't listen, what if this was the first time it happened and I had no idea how to help you"

"But it wasn't, you were able to deal with it and keep me safe, I forgive you, but I want some time to relax and calm down"

"Yeah, yeah, that's understandable, so you want me to have the maids get you anything?"

"Maybe just something cold to drink, that and cuddles I think are all I need right now"

"Ok, I'll have the maids grab that for you then I'll let you snuggle up"

I just nodded before taking another small smell of the lavender that was on the pin Inpu gave me which I not realized was was made for calming oils, meaning Inpu got this for when I had panic attacks.

Inpu came back after a bit before he pulled me closer so I could listen to his heartbeat.

After a short amount of time, I felt myself pass out, but not before I heard Inpu start to repeatedly say that he was sorry.
