Inpu's POV
A few months had passed and I had been growing much closer to Bryan than I ever did before.
I had been spending more time at Bryan's house then I had at my house at this point, and I was enjoying the time I was getting with my kids.
There was a good hour or two a day where I had to attend meetings, but other than that, I spent more time in the human realm them ever before.
Every night was pretty calm, we'd have dinner, the kids would get ready for bed, then Bryan and I would do whatever we wanted to do.
Despite my efforts in gaining Bryan, Crystal, and Artemis' trust, I managed to regain Bryan and Artemis' trust, but Crystal wasn't budging.
She was very quiet when I was in the room, and I knew it wasn't normal for her cause Artemis would mention things she said on the daily, so she talked up a storm when I wasn't there.
Bryan would try to convince her to at least spend some time with me, but there was no progress on it, so we created a situation where she had to.
At the end of the day, I was still a high ranking demon, meaning the eldest would need to start coming to the demon realm to get used to it, and my oldest was Crystal.
Our plan was that Bryan would take the kids for a day trip to the mall, somewhere Crystal hated, and since Bryan hates leaving her alone, I take her with me to my house for the day.
It did work, but once I let her into my office, she just sat on one of the chairs and started to play on her phone.
I tried to start some conversation, but she wasn't that interested and I heard her growing more and more frustrated.
"So anything cool going on in school?"
"Nothing is going on, I've only said that like eight times"
"Hey, are you ok?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I've been trying for months to gain your trust, what do I need to do to prove I won't do anything?"
"What do you want me to say? To me, you're just the guy who wanted my father dead before you fell in love"
"And let me guess, that's the reason you hate me"
"NO, seeing my father happy was something I never thought I'd see come from a relationship, and I don't hate you, you brought my father out of the depression he was in for years, I hate that it happened so damn fast!"
"So you don't like that I came back into your life almost as quickly as I left?"
"How can I not? I was never given any time to process a single thing, I was just told to accept it, I was taught to take time for research before I act on anything, papa taught me that, so seeing him just allow something to happen without a long thought plan throws me for a loop"
"Come on, we're heading somewhere"
"Where?"
"Somewhere I think you'll like to see"
We both walked over to the front before I told the staff we were going out for a bit.
I notified the other demons that I'd be absent from today's meeting, so I wasn't expected anywhere, so my hope was this would be something just the two of us.
After about an hour walk, we arrived at a nice cliff where I used to hang out with my mother when I was little, but I think the shock Crystal showed was much more noticeable compared to me.
She just watched the view for a few minutes before I decided to bring up anything, but she seemed so calm compared to the tenseness I saw in her body language at home.
"You like it here?"
"Yeah, how did you find out about this place?"
"My mother used to take me here when I was really little, I hoped one day I could take one of my little kids here, but life had another plan for me"
"Why did you lie to papa?"
"I wasn't taught correctly, my father just wanted me to be a perfect fit to take over the demon realm one day, and one way to get it was by lying, so I guess it was just a bad habit of mine"
"Had papa stayed here, had we been born here, what would you have done?"
"Well, to start, I would've been a better father and husband than I am, heck, I probably would've had a much better relationship with each of you"
"Did you ever consider that I'd be against you one day?"
"Crystal, I married an 18 year old three months after his birthday while I was 2000, there was so much I wasn't sure about back then, I had no idea I'd have kids for years, so when Bryan took you and Artemis, I wasn't sure what he would say since he was so young and our situation was less than ideal"
"You know papa never stopped talking about you"
"Let me guess, all bad things?"
"No, there were more good things than bad, he tried to paint us a good photo, he always said that just because your actions were sour to him didn't mean you'd be that way to us"
"Bryan always had a good grasp on actions, he could read me like a book when it came to things I did almost every day, and even if it was something new, it didn't take much for him to figure out what it could be for"
"That's probably why he does so well as a doctor"
"What kind of doctor is he? I don't think I ever asked"
"He's a family physician for abuse victims, his calm aura makes it easy for him to gain trust, so he uses that to make sure he can help any way possible, I think his report last year said he prevented about 50 deaths in victims who came in for emergencies"
"So you really can't fake being sick?"
"Not at all, but then again, I'm not myself when I'm terribly sick, so its easy to tell"
"You're too honest, I know you couldn't even fake a sickness even if you wanted to"
Crystal just let out a laugh before she sat down in the grass while she looked over the cliff.
I sat with her for a bit, just until we had to start heading home, but the entire time we were making our way back, her tails were wagging and she was laughing.
Seeing her happy was something I never thought would happen with me in her presence, but here we were.
We made it home about an hour before Bryan and the rest of the kids got home, so we decided to throw on a random movie just so we could enjoy some family time once the others got home.
