Chapter 46

Bryan's POV

It...fucking...happened...again

I was slowly waking up after being knocked out, but this time, instead of waking up in a bed with a warm light in the corner of my eye, I woke up in a dark cell, freezing cold, and in dirty clothes.

It was hard to see anything, but I could see what seemed to be the shadows of two demons, both with long horns and wings just barely not big enough for them to fly, so from what Inpu taught me, they were low level demons.

They noticed I was awake not long after I noticed them, so they were trying to make noise to mess with me while they waited for their boss, but all I could do was cover my ears and try to stay warm.

The two of them clearly were given some kind of order because they suddenly stopped and began to mess with a few chains that I didn't even notice were connected to me due to being numb.

After a bit of messing with, they quickly pulled me up and began to forcefully pull me into another room.

They both stood at the door before a maid came in, clearly clumsy and scared, and she just handed me some clothes before she quickly rushed out of the room before the two could mess with her.

I was told to change into the clothes I was given, but I refused, it was common things I often saw Inpu's maids wear off duty, and they were fairly skimpy.

Had I still been pretty young like I was when I met Inpu, it would've been fine, but I was older and more mature, I knew better, putting on what I was given could've been trouble for me, especially with all the comments I got on my looks years ago.

After I refused for about an hour, someone called out the two guards leaving me alone in the room for a bit.

Izanami came in after a few minutes before taking the clothes I was given and giving me some of Inpu's clothes.

"What's this for..?"

"I've been trying to persuade Anubis to stop this plan and just regain his power how he did before, but he refuses to, and since you're here, I want to help any way I can"

"Then you'd let me out..."

"You have no idea how much I want to, but right now, Anubis will know when you leave the building, I can't do anything right now"

"Why not just leave me alone then?"

"Because I don't know what I'd do if I let Anubis kill you, Inpu would be heartbroken"

"That's funny"

"What?"

"The thought that you care about what Inpu thinks, Inpu's mental health is ridiculously damaged because of his childhood, wouldn't you be a large part of that?"

"You don't get it, I tried my hardest to be part of his life, but his father always refused to let me, it wasn't until his sibling was born that I even really saw him, the few times I did speak with him, he was annoyed with his father, so I really didn't know much"

"I watched him break down in my arms one night because he felt like he was failing his father and me, Inpu had always been my rock, I've been there for him any way I could, having him break down in front of me almost didn't feel real"

"Alright, then let me help you get back to him, I can stall Anubis as much as I possibly can, I just need you to find a way back to my son"

"How do I know you won't betray me, I've had almost everyone I know betray me, the only ones who really haven't are my kids"

"Because I delt with something similar before, Anubis took me in around the same age you were sacrificed, he found me when I was at my lowest, he tricked me into being his puppet, once Inpu was born, I was ignored, thrown to the side, Magnus was only born because Inpu almost died"

"Then if you can think of a plan, I'll help with it, but I'm in a situation I can't really get out of it unless I can gain some serious power in such a short time, there is nothing I can do"

"I'll try to figure out something, you just do as your told for the time being, I'll still bring you some of Inpu's old clothes, but just keep focus on listening and staying safe"

"What about you, if you're found out-"

"Magnus and Inpu barely know each other, its a good thing in this case cause to Magnus, you're someone else affected by Anubis, so they'd be more willing to help"

"Why wouldn't they help me if they knew I was related to Inpu?"

"The last time they saw each other, they had a pretty nasty fight, ever since, the two haven't talked, its been about 100 year and they still haven't talked, I hear Magnus say how they miss Inpu, but I don't know what the full reaction would be"

"So either I'm screwed if they find out or I'm risking Inpu's temperature"

"That does seem to be the unfortunate case, don't worry, I won't leave any hints that you even know him"

"Sounds good"

Before Izanami could say another thing, I heard my stomach loudly growl and I began to feel a bit faint.

Izanami quickly helped me sit down before calling one of the guards to get me something to eat, but naturally, the second I had food in front of me, I wasn't hungry anymore, but this time, Inpu wasn't around to help me with it.

After a short amount of time of me not doing anything, Izanami was trying to help me eat, but when I still wasn't done eating around an hour later, the guards rushed out Izanami before trying to force the food down my mouth themselves.

When I fought them out of instinct, they began to give up and go to their plan b.

I blacked out before they did anything else, but the entire time I was out, all I could see were flashes of the cult from when I was young.

Eventually, I came to, but I was in some kind of hospital area restrained to a bed.

Izanami and someone who seemed similar to Inpu  but much younger who I learned was Magnus.

They both tried to keep me calm since I was having tons of cult flashbacks with everything going on, but once any adrenalin I had was mostly gone, I was given a couple relaxers to keep me calm until Anubis needed me, something we were hoping to delay.

Before Izanami left the room, she instructed Magnus to stay and keep me company, so I ended up talking with them until the mix of meds and panic caused me to pass out again, but thankfully, this time it felt calmer.
