Bryan's POV

With everything going on, I couldn't be happier that my kids were alone.

Having been back in the demon realm for a day, I already felt like I was in agony, which was faster than last time, which I expected but didn't like.

Inpu was not easy with me, he kept me down most of the night and when he wasn't being super rough with me, he was making sure I knew what I did wasn't acceptable to him.

I could barely move from the pain and I wanted nothing more than to be at home with my kids, that way all of this could feel like a bad dream.

When I did manage to get up, it was for the bathroom, but I was trying so hard to spend as much time in there as possible.

Every time I was in there, I was checking my injuries and trying to treat myself as best as possible.

Despite my efforts, Inpu put magic blockers on me so I couldn't heal myself, so I still had a busted lip and a black eye along with all the cuts and bruises he left of me.

The agony I felt was like nothing I had ever felt before, so whenever Inpu came into the room, I just remained quiet and avoided eye contact, I didn't want to get hurt again.

Though I did avoid Inpu and could barely move, I constantly noticed three teens peaking their heads around the corner, seemingly curious.

They looked like the kids Crystal and Artemis described, so I put two and two together and figured out why they were near my kids, so I tried to pay them no mind as well.

One of them peaked in a lot more than the others, so I figured he was one Inpu created to take Crystal's place had she been needed for whatever it was Inpu wanted me for, so I really didn't know what to think.

At the same time every day, Inpu came in to not only deliver me food which most of the time he forced me to eat, but also to inject vitamins into my system so I was stronger.

He came over at the exact same time he had been the past week, but this time, I heard him yell at the boy first.

It was something about how the boy shouldn't be risking me because of his curiosity, but he did bring the boy in the room with him.

I curled up out of stress and moved the blankets so Inpu had to really work in order to get me out.

"Darling, if you want this to get easier, you need to cooperate" [Inpu]

"I thought you said he wasn't scared of you..." [???]

"No, Atlas, I said he wasn't when he thought I wasn't an issue of his anymore, but I think he is finally learning he can't get away" [Inpu]

I rolled my eyes before I pulled the blanket up more, almost to the point I was completely covered.

Inpu was never super forceful when he needed me to eat, pretty sure that's why he used the vitamins, but it didn't matter, he still put fear in me every time he entered the room.

The boy, who I now knew was named Atlas, just stood there, but his expression told me he was scared about what his father would do.

Having been a doctor as long as I have, reading expressions was something I learned to do right away, and I could tell Atlas was scared but wanted to help as best he could.

After about half an hour of Inpu fighting me, he left the room, but Atlas was just left standing there, shaking.

"You know its rude to stare..."

"I...I'm sorry, I can leave if you want..."

"You're worried about something, what is it?"

"How do you-?"

"I'm a doctor, reading body language and facial expressions is a good part of the job, so talk..."

"All I really have to say is sorry..."

"For what?"

"The reason dad found you was because of me, I wanted to prove I wasn't a failure to him, I didn't know this would come from it"

"What does he say to you?"

"He doesn't really say much, mostly just calls me and my other two parts failures, he gets physical with us when he really doesn't like something, but otherwise he pretends we aren't here"

"You poor thing, you probably get so scared when he's in one of his moods"

"Dad always says when he's in a mood that the best thing we can do is continue to not be in his way, we tried to stop him once, and well, let's just say we regretted it for a week"

"So he gets physical with anyone who does something he doesn't like?"

"Pretty much, I just want to be with someone who cares for me and won't hit me for a minor mess up"

"How about this, if you can help me get out of here and get back to my home, I'll take care of you and your siblings, I don't care if you were created with my magic or not"

"I'd like that, it would definitely be safer than being here"

"Why don't you go get something to eat, I'm sure you're pretty hungry"

"How can you tell?"

"Your face tells me you haven't eaten much in the past few days, maybe weeks"

"Can I cuddle for a bit first? Dad has never even given us a high five, a little attention would feel nice"

"Alright, come here"

Atlas quickly snuggled up with me, and once we moved so we could both be comfortable, I felt him almost melt into the bed.

I just gently moved my hand through his hair before I started to slightly sing like I did for Crystal and Artemis when they were little.

A while later, I was close to passing out, but before I could, I heard Inpu walking in the hall.

Not wanting to be caught off guard, I listened and heard him pause in front of the room before I heard a scoff.

I had no idea what he refused to see in the kids he was raising, but they were great kids assuming the other two were like Atlas.

My hatred for Inpu may have been fairly apparent to him, but I was going to make sure the kids he "raised" knew they had someone on their side, after all, it seemed like they didn't know that.
