Chapter 36

Crystal's POV

After a week without papa, I still had no plans on how I should move forward.

Artemis still had no idea why papa hadn't come home yet, all he knew was papa would be gone for a bit so aunt Bri would come over every night to help us.

I was in charge of pretty much everything but cooking, so while Artemis was working on homework, I was working on whatever chores had to get done, and today's task was the garden.

The most I had to do was cut dead leaves and water the plants, but I was trying to whisper to myself just give the flowers some extra CO2.

Gardening was usually a family activity, but since I needed Artemis to get his homework done, I was just out there with Phoenix.

She mostly just sat next to the fence to keep anything coming near the house out.

I wasn't sure how much time passed, I really wasn't paying attention, but my attention was quickly grabbed when Phoenix started barking but didn't stop after a few minutes like normal.

At a glance, no one was there, so I opened the garden gate and went into the larger part of the yard and watched Phoenix charge at the part of the gate in front of the house.

After I walked over to the gate, I called Phoenix off at first, but I was really tempted to give her the command to have her ignore it once I saw who it was.

Femi was standing there, seeming sort of nervous upon seeing me, but I just felt rage upon seeing her.

I shook my head to let my ears out and gently began to show my fangs before I opened the gate so I could speak with her face to face, but I did keep Phoenix on the other side of the fence.

"How the fuck did you find my house?"

"Do I really need to explain that? You already know what happened, not much I need to add"

"Just tell me what kind of torture you're using on my father"

"None, surprisingly, he actually wants to help us unlike our father"

"Cut the bullshit, you're just here to take Artemis and I"

"But I'm not, look, I don't know how to make you believe me, but Bryan has asked my siblings and I for help escaping, and since we were also kinda tricked into doing it, we need to make up for it, but we can't do that without help"

"And why should I trust you, you kidnapped my father and now a week later, you want my help with getting him out"

"What can I do to prove it to you?"

"My father knows I don't trust people easily, he would've given you something about me that only a few people know"

"Um, he said something about how when you were little, he was barely starting his garden, but every morning when he was working on the garden, you always would play with the lilies and each of them would grow slightly because of your magic"

I let out an angry sigh, I didn't want to believe that my father trusted the triplets, but he had some reason to trust them.

Phoenix was no longer barking, but I could tell she was as suspicious as me.

After a few minutes of thinking, I opened the gate and let her in, but not before Phoenix quickly began to sniff Femi, but once she finished, I picked up Phoenix and we went inside.

Before Artemis could see Femi, I sent him to his room to finish his homework.

I placed Phoenix in her bed before I sat down at the table with Femi, but I made it very obvious that I wasn't happy with this.

"I guess to start, Bryan said you had access to the true story as to how Inpu lost his power, I know the book wasn't completely accurate"

"Its been a bit since I read the story, so I guess we can go over it together, but I guess to start, it wasn't other demons who took power from Anubis after Inpu left for a bit, it was angels who took from Inpu and Anubis gave up a good amount to keep Inpu alive"

"Why would grandpa do that? The two hate each other"

"Because its fake arguments, the two get along like two peas in a pod, but they fake a bad relationship because they can't let Anubis' wife know"

"Continue the story, what if something we could use is related to it"

"Upon learning they were both down a good amount in power, they went to their highest ranking demons who gave a bit more power, but they were still very short, so they did some research, this leading to a finding that the only way to get back taken power, was to get it back from someone similar to the taker, thus being a pure angel"

"So he needed Bryan because he couldn't just use any sacrifice, but before he could do the ritual, Bryan got away"

"Yeah, now he's stuck with him again, who's to say he isn't being harmed right now?"

"Inpu is keeping him from getting hurt right now, he needs Bryan to be alive enough to take the power, and with how  much Inpu did to him, he'll have at least a week"

"I can't even imagine what papa is feeling right now, I don't even know what to tell Artemis, I really don't want to get him involved"

"We've been taking turns spending time with him, he seems to be better when talking to one of us, but he shuts down the second he's in the room with Inpu"

"He's your father, why do you keep referring to him by his first name?"

"I know both Inpu and Bryan are my blood parents, but Inpu doesn't act like a father to us, more a keeper, and I don't know Bryan enough yet to see him as a father figure"

"And it'll be weird to view you three as siblings, to think, we had no idea the other existed until recently"

"How did you find out?"

"Magical connection, I've only felt it with Artemis, so I was confused for a while of what I was feeling until we were cornered, I just went into a rage after that cause I hated the thought I had siblings who wanted harm upon our small family"

"Yeah, its not fun to think that, I should probably go before someone notices I'm gone"

"Alright, then be on your way, if you need anything else, please feel free to let me know"

Femi left and not even twenty minutes later, aunt Bri came in with dinner, so I called Artemis down and we spent the rest of the night as if nothing happened.
