Chapter 8

Bryan's POV

Now that I knew I had angelic power, I began to lock myself up while Inpu was away.

It was more for my own safety since I never knew how the guards or maids would react if they found out.

I was just trying to sleep since I didn't sleep well last night due to a handful of random noises outside, so I was really out of it.

As I was barley paying attention to what was going on around me, something seemed to have fallen in the hallway.

Not wanting to get up, I figured the maids would deal with it and tried to go back to sleep, but I heard the bedroom door open.

I looked over since Inpu couldn't be home yet, but I didn't see anything, which made my anxiety start to go up.

After a few minutes, nothing came in the room, but I felt like I was being watched, so I quickly went into the hiding spot in the closet and texted Inpu.

Once he responded, he just told me to stay put and that he'd be home as soon as possible.

I put my phone away and heard footsteps nearby, so I just remained as quiet as possible.

Nothing had been moved, but I could hear breathing and I just kept growing more scared.

Something inside me was telling me that whoever was in the room was dangerous and that they were getting closer.

It didn't take long for them to find me, but as they started to open the cabinet, which I was trying to keep closed, then they suddenly hit the ground and I could smell blood.

The body was just dragged away, and I stayed hidden, I could just tell something wasn't right, I couldn't sense Inpu anywhere, and he was usually pretty easy for me to find.

I ended up closing my eyes, and just tried to feel what was around me.

It was a new power for me, so I didn't have full control of it, but I was able to get it to work.

There was still someone in the room, he was waiting at the door, likely so he could grab me, so I stayed hidden and texted Inpu again.

He replied that he was just about to enter the house, so I just told him to hurry along with the location of the one who broke in.

Not long after, I heard another thud along with Inpu yelling something that I mostly blanked out.

After it was clear whatever broke in was out of the room, Inpu opened the cabinet I was hiding in and pulled me into a hug.

"Are you ok?"

"A little shaken up, but otherwise fine, they didn't get to do anything"

"Good, I'm sorry I showed up late, I almost wasn't able to leave my meeting early"

"You're ok, nothing happened to me, I'm fine, just a bit startled"

"It still shouldn't have happened"

"Why do you think it happened?"

"My guess, whoever has been watching me doesn't realize you already have power, so they tried to take you from me by tricking you, but of course, you were able to tell I wasn't present"

"Of all things to take, what benefit would they have taking me?"

"I don't know, there are a million reasons it could be, I don't have an exact guess, but maybe it's because we aren't married yet, therefore, someone else could get the power benefits"

"So I'm just an asset until we get married?"

"That's not how I view you, its just a messed up and twisted way of thinking of other demons"
