Bryan's POV

I've been stuck before, but the cult's guard is by far the hardest to get out of.

As a teenager, I'd just stay out a bit later than school, but on weekends, I had to find an open window and prey no one saw me.

This would be a bit trickier, my wrists were tied up and I heard three different people standing outside the door.

Most of the conversation I heard was about how I'd be sacrificed to Inpu AGAIN by sunrise tomorrow morning, so I had no idea how long I had.

Luckily for me, I was alone in the room since they still had to find something for me to wear, but since I had more muscle on me compared to everyone else, they were struggling.

I was able to move myself so I could get up, and after a bit of searching, I found something sharp and managed to break the rope.

My stuff was left on a nearby counter, and once I took a look at my phone, I noticed a text from Crystal, she had to use the burner phones we kept, meaning someone went after them.

Other than the text Crystal sent, most of the notifications were from apps I allowed them on and a single text from an unknown number that just said 20 minutes.

That frame of time wasn't random, I knew that, time was often a way to keep secrets in the cult AND the demon realm, so I just had to find out what it meant.

After a bit of thinking, it finally hit me, 20 minutes was how long I was out after Inpu and my first time together, so we decided to say 20 minutes by text meant we'd end up doing it next time Inpu sees me.

There was no was in hell I was going to let him try me once he sees me, so I had to find a way out and quick, only issue with that, my wings had a bright glow, I'd be seen in shadows, plus my wings didn't comfortably fit in most jackets, thus why I buy mine custom.

Despite the room being fairly small, it had a door that lead into the room I knew held the members who were born in/given to the cult, so it was my best bet.

Everyone in the room could tell I wasn't with the cult, so a few of them began to block the door, no words were shared, but I guess the fear in my eyes spoke for me.

There was a mutual understanding for us, we all had clearly been in the same situation, so they were willing to help me.

I began to check each window, and like they had before, there were easy to pick locks, so I was able to get it open with a few sticks that managed to get in the room.

The window may have been pretty small, but I was still able to get out of it, but instead of relocking it, I left it open for those who were left in the room.

All I could do was run, I didn't know how far from my house the cult base was, but I knew for sure there was a gas station not far from there, so if I could just run there and call the cops, I should be safe.

After a 30 minute run that felt so much longer, I made it to the gas station and quickly began to look for something to eat.

When I went to go pay, the person behind the counter recognized me and told me to just take the stuff and stay as long as I needed.

Once I informed the police and asked if they could bring me home, the gas station attendant told me to take a seat behind the counter with him for my safety.

"You have no idea how much I need to thank you!"

"Don't worry about it, haven't seen you in a long while, what happened after you turned 18?"

"You remember how I was practically born into a cult?"

"How could I not, I tried to call the cops every time you came in cause of the injuries, I knew they did something to you"

"They sacrificed me on my 18th birthday, I spent about four months with a demon I grew to love, but he wanted me for self gain, so since he used both of our magic to create embryos, I took them and ran"

"Good on you, kid, how old are your little ones?"

"16 and 10, so not super little, but I don't want to leave them alone any more than I have"

"Why? Think someone will go after them?"

"Someone already has, I keep burner phones for some extra protection in case something happens, I got the text saying they had to use them, so someone was after them"

"That's smart, need me to try and call them?"

"No, my daughter is pretty good about keeping her brother safe, she won't answer unless she knows its someone she can trust"

"I'm glad you've got smart kids, probably helps that their father is smart"

"Thanks for the compliment, but they mostly learn on their own, I just make sure they stay on a good path"

The attendant went quiet for a few minutes, but when he spoke again, he told me to kneel behind the counter because someone was coming.

It was a cultist who walked in, and before the attendant could even get a simple hello in, they showed a picture of me while asking if I had been seen nearby.

After a few minutes, it seemed like they were about to leave, but as they went to ask the attendant to keep an eye out, another cultist pulled me up.

They put a knife to my throat and pointed a gun at the attendant before yelling that they were taking me back and they didn't care if they had to kill someone or not.

The air in the room was tense and as time began to pass and the cultist began to produce more threats, I caved, I didn't want to watch someone die because of me.

I was put in the back of their car and brought back, and once we got back, everything that normally happened before a ritual was preformed on me.

It was all done faster than I had ever seen before, so I knew they were doing this more so Inpu could get an overdue reward from the cult.

The chants started and the room filled with shadows, I had seen this happen so many times before, and yet this time felt worse than it had ever felt before.

The smoke began to clear after a few minutes, and I saw the familiar face, I saw the sinister smile he had on.

"Why, hello again, darling~"
