Chapter 37

Bryan's POV

After about a week of planning, I was able to make a plan with the kids, only thing we had left to do before we could set it in motion was to get the magic blockers off my wrists.

We tried about every spell we could find, but nothing was working, and when the triplets dared to ask why I had them on, they were just told it was to keep me in my current condition.

This panicked us, we had at least a day left but we had no lead on it, so if we were unlucky, we'd be pushed in a corner.

The triplets were sent to go do something, I wasn't quite sure what, all I know was that I was left alone in Inpu's room, just sitting next to the window trying to take in what was outside.

I heard the door open eventually, but I knew better then to react right away.

There was a slight growl after a few minutes, so I knew it was Inpu, but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of my attention.

"You know, the more quiet you are, the more you make me crave you~"

"..."

"Really, again? You do realize I'm trying, right?"

"Yeah, trying to kill me..."

"Had you not run away, we wouldn't be in this situation right now"

"You know what, you're right, I'd already be dead"

"Sarcasm, really? I made it so you were raised to survive it, you running away and potentially risking yourself more is what's going to be the leading cause to your death"

"I DIDN'T ASK FOR THAT! I ASKED FOR NONE OF THIS! HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR YOU I WOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE, YEAH MY MOM MAY HAVE BEEN SUCKY, BUT I WOULD'VE HAD A GOOD CHILDHOOD!"

"DON'T RAISE YOUR VOICE AT ME!"

"NO THE SECOND YOU GET ME BACK, THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS RECLAIM ME IN THE ONLY WAY YOU KNOW HOW! YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ME, YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOUR POWER!"

Once I let my anger out, I watched Inpu's expression change from disappointment, to pure anger.

The entire time we were talking, I never stood up, but once I saw his expression change, I wish I had.

Inpu remained quiet, all he did was start to walk over to me, but I realized I messed up, I should've just kept quiet.

He moved so he was right in front of me, even if I didn't freeze and could move,  he made it so I couldn't.

I just closed my eyed as he began to move his hand, but I wasn't expecting to feel his hand gently touch my chin.

After a few minutes, I carefully opened my eyes, and I saw Inpu's red eyes just staring into my eyes.

"I may have had you raised so you'd be a good fit for a ritual, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't grow feelings"

"Then why play me for a fool, I loved you more than anything I had ever loved before, I was at my lowest and you treated me like royalty, finding out you only wanted me for a ritual to gain power hurt more than you can imagine"

"You know better than anyone here that sometimes you need to keep secrets"

"I was at my lowest point ever, you could've told me about it the day I first arrived and I would've accepted it, had you told me anything, I would've done so, but no, you just kept me and kept me thinking everything would be fine, just the two of us for years to come, but no, you wanted me for a second ritual that would take a year to process"

"Lovely, let me tell you, if some how you do survive the ritual, I want you to know that I will make you go back for our other two and bring them here, that way we do get that future"

"You can't build a future on lies, my two know better, they know what would have happened if I came back only to bring them here, for that to happen you need to build trust, something I really don't have in you right now"

"Oh yeah, and if you do survive, what would you do?"

"Go home to my kids, my life, I had so much support when I thought I was back to having nothing, I managed to get something I never thought I'd have, let alone at 18, so if you really did love me, you'd realize I need time to regain trust and process everything"

"And you should know that's not an option"

"But it should be, I was scared out of my mind for almost my entire life, the only time I wasn't was when I had people to worry about me, the second Crystal got her symbol-"

"Crystal has her own symbol?"

"Yeah...you didn't know?"

"Of course not, all that does is tell me that I have more I need to prepare for"

"And that would be?"

"The oldest typically has the most power, and with her being demon and angel, its a power I would like to have on my side, plus I know a few other demons would be interested, so I have more things to consider for the future"

"If you think I'm going to let you do something to my daughter-"

"She's my child to, both her and Artemis are, if anyone should be preparing for their futures its me, I know how demons are growing up"

"They are more angel then anything, so that should be my issue, I've already raised them a majority of their lives, you can deal with the three you raised"

"Stop being so damn difficult, either way, you live, you stay here and bring the other two, or you die and I take the other two, I am their other parent after all"

"They won't view you as such, trust me, I know them"

"Yeah, they don't trust me because of what you've put into their heads, so why don't you remain quiet and let me do the work"

Inpu left the room soon after, and all I could do was sit there and pretend nothing happened.

Despite the fact I knew I was only there for one ritual that could kill me, I did actually like being back.

He was clearly angry when he saw me, but he was very sweet before he did anything to hurt me, he held me close and let me try to process things.

We did sleep together, but it was on my terms, with all the affection he was giving me, I couldn't help but ask for one more good time even if it would be the last thing I felt comfortable doing with him.

It wasn't something I normally would've done, but he was the only one I ever grew to love, in my mind, from everything I've read in books at least, asking him was the only thing I could ask him, and he allowed it.

Him actually wanting to talk to me just told me what I didn't want to know, regardless of what we were able to do, the ritual would be preformed tomorrow, and despite all that, I had no way of saying goodbye...
