Bryan's POV
After a week of staying at Bri's and getting used to living like a normal person would, I actually got something in the mail.
Upon reading it, it was a letter from the angel council saying they were ready for a meeting with me, but they requested I bring my kids with me, but they didn't provide a reason.
Since Bri had to work, she dropped me off and gave me some money so I could wait in a nearby coffee shop so I had something to do once I left.
The building it was supposedly held in seemed very empty, nothing like what I would expect a group of elite angels would be in.
That was until I entered a door that said my name followed by enter, that's when the room changed.
Now standing in the room were about ten angels, each of them all glaring at me, and I couldn't help but feel intimidated and scared.
I heard eight of them start to speak about me and my error in trusting a demon pretty much to my face, but the other two continued to look at me while whispering to each other.
One of the angels began to make comments on how I was stupid and immature for thinking I could handle a demon, it was as if they had no idea what I had lived through.
Before I could even defend myself, one of the angels told the rest to quiet down before the two who were whispering came closer to me.
The same angel who was making the comments started up again, but this time, they were stopped.
"Leave this one alone, he was given up and raised to be the way he is, he didn't pick his path, others did" [???]
"My lover is correct, this one was born on the path he followed, he didn't make good choices because he was destined for the path he is on" [???]
The rest of the angels just grumbled before leaving the room, which made me realize I didn't like being left alone with two men because Inpu was almost always with a guard or friend outside the house.
"I must apologize for them, they were told about this ahead of time, yet they still think poorly of you, we should introduce ourselves, I'm Jakey, and this is my husband and partner, Brandeen" [Jakey]
"I'm Bryan, but I guess you already knew that..." [Bryan]
"Don't be scared, we're doing this more to make sure nothing can track you and that your little ones will be fine" [Brandeen]
"I guess you want to see them then..?" [Bryan]
"Yes, I will take them for a bit, mostly just to make sure they are growing ok and will be fine once they are born, Brandeen will be checking you" [Jakey]
After a bit of thought cause I really didn't know if I could trust them, I handed Jakey the test tubes before he left the room as well.
Brandeen began to use a bit of magic on me, mostly checking spots that Inpu was known for leaving magical trackers, and thankfully, nothing was there.
"Alright, it looks like you should be fine, any questions?"
"Zara briefly mentioned while she helped me pack that you would've known about this for years, so why didn't you help me before?"
"Simple, we couldn't, everything was planned out, from how the cult raised anyone who had a chance of being like you, and once your wings came in, they started to go into the full plan"
"And that was?"
"They wait till you are brought into the cult, raise you so when you meet him, you have to listen to him since you knew nothing else, then once the blood moon came, they have you get married so your power comes in faster, they never taught you how to use your magic out of fear you'd turn against the cult"
"So they just wanted me to be loyal and listen, they could've cared less about how I was mentally of physically?"
"Pretty much, they just needed an angel with good enough health to gain pure wings, they didn't care about anything else, thus why the cult treated you like crap"
"They treated me less like crap and more like an entity to ignore until needed"
"And I apologize for not being able to help, we spent years brainstorming ways to get you out safely without having anyone get hurt, but by the time we thought of a plan, you were already in Inpu's grasp"
"He had to make me love him, that's what hurts the most, I grew to love him with all my heart and he couldn't even let me have that, he knew what I went through, I told him everything, and he didn't give me a damn thing now that I think about it"
"He brought pain and suffering since you were a baby, don't think of him, just keep your focus on creating the life you want to have with your kids"
"Where do I even start? I have no job experience, I haven't been to school in months, I've got nothing to start with"
"How about you start with an offering from us, the angel council's job is to provide help to those we seem fitting, and well, its pretty obvious you need help, so I can get you a job so you can make money while attending night school, that way you can do what you want to"
"What job would I be good at?"
"That's your you to decide, I can get you the job by next week, but I'll give you six months to think about your classes, that way you can think about the life you want"
I nodded right before Jakey came back in, this time holding two tiny orbs.
It was explained that the test tubes not being connected to anything would delay their growth and eventually kill my kids, so he put them in magic orbs so they'd keep growing until they were able to be actual babies.
I put them back in my bag before asking a few more question I had on my mind about what to do next.
Once I got a good idea on what to expect in my future, they walked me over to the coffee shop I was going to wait for Bri at before they said bye to me.
After a few minutes of just processing, I almost broke down, my life went from incredibly depressed and abused, to very happy and calm, only to end up broken and lost.
I had no idea what I would do, and now I had nothing but my kids, the most I could do now was wait and hope for good luck.
